This is an ensemble I prepared for the 200-year anniversary of the 1813 Battle of the Nations reenactment in Leipzig.
The ensemble consists of a dress, spencer, bonnet, and reticule.
The dress is made from white cotton with maroon machine-embroidered flowers. I used a maroon colored sash to underline the bust.
The spencer is made of dark green cotton velvet, lined with raw cotton, with synthetic interlining to give it warmth.
The bonnet is completely hand-sewn. The form is made from two layers of felt with a plastic mosquito net in between the layers to give the hat its stiffness. It’s covered with a dark green cotton on the outside and a white one on the inside. It’s trimmed and embellished with wine-red coloured ribbon.
The reticule is made of dark green velvet with machine-embroidered light pink flowers. It’s lined with a green silk from my scraps stash.
