Stitch shoulder seams (seam number 1). Press seam allowances onto back. Cut pre-pressed bias tape apart along centre – it is then 1 cm (3/8 in) wide when folded double. Unfold bias tape and pin to edge of seam allowance. Stitch 5 mm (3/16 in) from edge. Then fold bias ­tape over allow­ance edge and pin in place, without turn­ing edge under. Work from upper side to stitch binding close to join­ing seam, thereby catching opposite edge.
