The inspiration comes from a blouse style in June 2009 magazine #122. (See the pic enclosed) The blouse feature standing collar, concealed button closure and armhole bands.
I modified the original blouse style by extending the blouse length by 3 1/2 inches and extending the darts as it was place too much under the bust as oppose to my waist.
I extended the lower front and back by 10 inches to make a regular skirt length. Casing elastic was enclosed at the waist instead of a drawstring. I then added hem ruffles to the hemline and two pockets to give it my own personal touch.
Felt really happy with the outcome :-) although I am not really a big fan on ruffle hemlines. Should I keep the ruffles at the hemline or take it off?
