Mini Owl Ornament – I want to make A LOT of these… I stitched this one by hand (i dont have my own sewing machine, i alway’s use my mom’s), but I’ll have to make the rest on the machine.
Shwe Shwe* Butcher's Linen Beads *Shwe Shwe is a South African tradition. "Shwe Shwe fabric is also known as "Blaudruk" in South Africa. This fabric originally came from England, but is now printed exclusively in South Africa by Da Gama Textiles, which is 40% owned by the workers. The printing itself uses a unique process involving discharge paste to create the distinctive and delicate white patterns. There are several different trade marked ranges. If the fabric is stamped with the Three Cats logo, it's one of the original English patterns; if it's Three Leopards, it's one of the new South African designs. The fabric is printed in three traditional colours: Indigo blue, red and chocolate brown. Plus, the new fancy print range, which adds a touch of gold to highlight the Indigo blue and brown. This fabric is very stiffly starched when new, which is considered a mark of quality in South Africa. However, after just one wash, the fabric becomes lovely and soft and easy to handle."
