Stitch front facings to hem facing (mitred seams), beginning and ending seams at seam line on outer edge. Lay facing under skirt, with wrong sides together. Baste skirt edges to facing – seam allowance of facing extends. Topstitch close to front skirt edges and hem edge. Then topstitch again 5 cm (2 ins) from these edges and stitch horizontally along top in line of waistband joining seam. Trim extending allowances.
