Hi everyone! I’m hoping to make this dress using something else than sweatshirting! For example, viscose rayon… will it work? I like the pattern because it looks so simple and easy to make (good for a novice like me!) but I hoping for a slightly more formal look. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks :)

I love viscose, and think it would work good for this type of pattern, just realize that it’s going to be a lot more flowy and less stiff than the sweatshirting. The thing that’s going to be the most important will be the fit, if it’s to big on you it will make you look frompy. I have a problem with that because I’m really short (5’) and if I don’t shorten the pattern and also size it down overall, it will make me look frompy. But using more flowy fabric like viscose will help a lot in this department. Hope this helps, Good luck!

I think this could also look cute if you made it with a dressier jersey knit and took out the pockets. A bit less casual. Nice with tights in the fall. I think I’ll give it a try!
