I made this bag for a friend’s 18th birthday. I wasn’t sure what the purse was going to look like until I saw the Modcloth handmade holiday contest. I love Modcloth so much and I was inspired to make this style of bag. It’s just sooo… modcloth-like. It measures 10 by 12 inches. the strap can adjust to be 48 inches long. I used all of the metal hardware from old bags i was going to give to savers. Yay for recycling! the front flap closes with a magnetic snap. There are 3 inside pockets including a cell-phone pocket. There is also a zipper pocket. Several things about this bag are inspired from modcloth. The pleats represent all of modcloth’s popular ruffles, gathers, and pleats on their clothing. Modcloth also has a lot of bows on their accessories, and garments. I chose purple vinyl because it’s my best friends favorite color and I chose the black and white fabric to balance the color out and give the purse a more classy tone to it, just as I think modcloth’s items are all VERY classy =) It turned out great, and my friend loved it!
I think this item complements a lot of modcloth clothing but one of my favorites is this mustard colored casual dress: http://www.modcloth.com/store/ModCloth/Womens/Dresses/Once+Upon+a+Citron+Dress
Take off with pleats, cut-outs, insets, and futuristic prints.
