Life stages of a Butterfly.
Emily – Monarch butterfly,
Dylan – Caterpillar,
Logan – Cacoon
All of the pattern pieces were hand made for all 3 costumes. The majority of the costume parts were cut from fleece. The wings of the butterfly were cut from metal window screen that was sewn on the sewing machine around the outer edges and a wire was inside to help keep the shape and then the wings were painted. The caterpiller and the cacoon were stuffed with cotton between the layers and/or sections to make them puff up.
