I love your doll outfit…..and you’re doing really good with getting a nice fit!
Drafting doll clothing patterns means that I am designing patterns. I work with specific dolls and the patterns go through several “fittings” until they are perfected. I posted a pattern on this site for berets and scarves that fit the American Girl, along with a photo tutorial step-by-step that can be found on my doll clothing website. I have one American Girl in my doll collection that I occasionally use for fittings, but I mostly just babysit her. She really belongs to my oldest daughter (who is 29 now) and who doesn’t play with dolls like I do! One day, if my daughter has a daughter, then perhaps she would be happy to have the doll (it’s Samantha).
Learning to sew doll clothes is a good beginning because you can aquire skills that prepare you for sewing bigger things. My oldest daughter sewed her first real dress when she was 11. My youngest daughter (who is 11 right now) currently sews sock monkeys and elephants.
You just keep up the good work. I can see you going really far with this. And it sounds like your cousin Allison is a wonderful role model and support for your adventures in sewing.
