Hi I just saw your post on Elegantmusings gorgeous 1930 frock, and wanted to let you know about sovintage.com, they have the most unbelievable collection of vintage patterns for sale. I bought a gorgeous 1960’s couture peacoat/pants/skirt pattern a little while ago and have been waiting for the right fabric..just scored some cashmere wool from ebay a couple of days ago and will use that(YAY!).
They’re a bit pricey, mine was $80, but it was in excellent condition, never even opened, so I was happy to pay that. ( And everything I buy I am saving for my daughter who turned 15 today and is taking fashion at school)
Also there is another site that I will have to go and find the web address for you, this one has less of a range for sale but the patterns start from about $3. I bought about 14 from this site and the envelopes on most of them were in terrible condition, but the patterns themselves were o.k, so I wasn’t too disappointed. I’ve made a couple of dresses from 1950’s patterns and they are just great!!
Just one last thing, I’ve found that a vintage size 12 is about an Aussie size 8. I’m quite a stick and this size fits me well, but I do buy them in any size. Sovintage .com gives you a link to a great tutorial for resizing patterns if you need it and they give you 10% off after your first purchase.
Let me know how you go.
