Thank you Ralf! My husband walked for 5-6 hours to get home after the big quake. No trains nor bus. But we’re together now and lucky to live far from the tsunami. The aftershocks still come every time so we have to be prepared. My best regards to you and the lovely family in Germany!

Hey verypurpleperson,
I just have read that it was your birthday on november 30th, it is also mine :-) I started a new job (in Germany) and was told that I will spend 3 months in Tokyo next year (probably sept till nov). So if it is ok for you I would ask for some hints about fabric shoppping and things I should visit/do while my time in Tokyo. Susisonne

Hello N.! Thanks for your kind comments! It is nice to see how your blog and Etsyshop have flourished. And a google phenomenon too! Long gone are the day when your status mentioned ‘I don’t sell on Etsy, stop asking me’ ! :) How do you manage this, if you don’t mind me asking?Keep well and keep up the good work… and of course for the competition…good luck …we all want the sewing do we? (just joking… to emphasize how silly the whole thing is) I kind of regret entering now it seems that it brings some bitchiness amongst members…down with the rating system…X

Haha you remember the status! The etsy shop, I guess it’s a way so I can have more reason to sew. Actually I only make things that I like and don’t take custom order. And I haven’t listed anything new in months :P
Oh my, what bitchiness? I have no idea! Maybe I should check the forum (or maybe not). I thought the whole thing was just for fun :-| -

Yes this status remains in everyone unconscious! At least those who STILL don’t have a Etsy shop. Maybe I am generalizing bitchiness around a specific case. Two days ago Ajtak71 complained about ridiculous low rating it in a her status box…Don’t know if that’s in the forum yet. The core of problem here again is this useless rating system that embodies bitchiness itself… sigh…

i love using patterns from the 50ths to the 70ths with small adabtions to our todays fashion. the linen ones for my husband have been from a 50ths pattern!

Wow your creations are amazing! and that floral fabric you buy is absolutely stunning – is it 100% cotton? Please tell me – I would like to make a ruffle dress, is the ruffle you use at the top just a piece of straight fabric gathered? Or is it cut like flounce? Thanks so much and look forward to seeing more of your brilliant pieces :-)

Hello! Glad that you like my stuff :)
Yes the floral fabrics I use are 100% cotton, made in Japan, I’m very lucky to be able to acquire them.
The ruffles are really just a piece of straight fabric gathered on one side. Measure the neckline of your dress and multiply by at least 1.5 and that would be the minimum length of the ruffles.
