Is there anything in particular that you seriously MUST have out of the 2010 vogue collection??? My in-laws live in the USA and any pattern that I would cut off a limb for I order online and ship to their house and they forward to me. Have you tried to order online – I think simplicity have now started to ship to Aust, vogue may do to. Hoping to get to the Feb BSC event in Malaga – can talk more then.

Hi Braden, Just thought I’d give you an update, the BMV website had a huge sale so I ended up buying the patterns I wanted direct from them, with the club bmv discount it ended up really cheap (about $4 each!) even with postage, can’t wait until they arrive :)

I am sooo jealous… I’m on a pattern buying ban from my husband :O( apparently I have too many (is that possible????) But I was lucky enough to purchase a number of patterns whilst I was in the states last year – mostly costumes for the kids and some cute little girl essentials, but also one or two for me. That said… I still got the inlaws to send a post xmas package of patterns too!

Good luck on your shopping trip !!! It sounds as if you a really keeping yourself busy and have a lot of ideas. I have no proper project at the moment,I have just been messing about and doing an inventory on what sewing supplies I have got, patterns etc I had a go at making my own basic draft pattern but when I tried it out it seemed a bit out on the sizing, ( I will have to keep practicing) I intend to get down to work when we come back from the UK, bringing back some sewing goodies with us. Hope your blisters are getting better.

Hi Mel, yes overlockers sure are a great timesaver. I’ve been experimenting a little on mine and made some pyjamas for my son on the first weekend. But had to put it aside while my husband and I set up a new sewing area for me since I’ve now outgrown my little corner of the dining room. Can’t wait to overlock more, but will have to get all the kids back to school stuff ready first. Then look out — I’ve got a hundred and one projects buzzing around in my brain, waiting for me to get to them.

I now live in Bulgaria but since moving here I have found it very frustrating in not being able to get decent quality materials and sewing threads etc.

Just before moving out here I found a fantastic place in Birmingham, UK. where it was like alladins cave for material etc. In a few weeks we are going back for a short break so I think we will be paying that place a visit.

    All the best, Elaine

    Hi,

Gosh !! there must be loads of room inside if you have bought baskets to put things in. We could do with a new coffee table and that sort of thing would be ideal, being able to store things but also everything looks nice and tidy. When do you think you will be starting your next project ?

Thanks for the sweet words about the dollies! My favorite thing about Waldorf dolls or Kinder dolls are their sweet simple faces, allows the imagination to bloom!

    Hi Mel,

I just wanted to let you know I finally bought my overlocker!! In the end I decided to get a Bernina as well. I’ve got the 800DL and I’m loving it!. To think all these years I thought I never wanted an overlocker. I’m so impressed with how it can gather automatically. All those hours I clocked up gathering the tiers on my niece’s rock and roll petticoats could have been cut to a fraction of the time. Thanks for your advice.

Hello. Thanks for leaving such a nice comment on my dress! I have been meaning to say hi for a while actually, as I have been watching your sewing club go from strength to strength with great interest as I also facilitate a Burdastyle sewing club here in London, and I originally hail from Perth too! I have been trying to get my little bro’s girlfriend to sign up over there as she is super crafty creative and I’m sure you’d all have a blast together, so if you hear from an Ivana, tell her I said hi. Love your stuff too, so creative, bright and well made! Perfect fro enjoying the coming warmer months (oh yes I’m jealous).

I can’t wait to see your Wenlan skirt! Did you find the pattern to be true to size?

I’m glad you finally got going on your Wenlan skirt. After reading your comment I wonder if my sizing was out because it didn’t print the correct scale? I never even thought to check, I’ve never had a pattern not print correctly so maybe I became a bit blasé about measuring the square. Hmmm…well it fits now and I am very happy with it, I will post it up after the competition closes ;) This is becoming a trend, I’m looking forward to seeing yours too :)

Hi :-) on your recommendation i just cut out the kikaru pattern to try out! your enthusiasm helped spur me on to actually be brave so thank you. I think i may try a muslin first out of grey cord that i have lying around…may i ask which size you used? did you find the sizing of this pattern accurate with normal store dress sizes?

I am sorry to read you are having so many problems with this site. I guess we’d best put up a sign that reads, “Line forms to the right for those who have questions.” and “Line forms to the left for those who expect answers. Form double rows in the left line.” ;( Cordially, but with no sense of humor left. Nehmah

Hi Kaitui_kiwi Thanks for the explanation. I used for the top and the skirt the same kind of fabric: 100% cotton, but one piece of fabric with a big Vichy-design for the skirt and one with a small Vichy-design for the top.

    Hi Melissa,

Thanks for your message! Yes, if I ever make it to Perth, I would defenitely like to join. I am a researcher in Biology and am trying to get funding to go and work at UWA in Crawley (I’ve been there for 4 months in 2007 and loved it!). I will probably hear in December whether I get a fellowship and then move somewhere mid next year. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! I will contact you then. I have to warn you though, I still a beginner, have no clue about pattern making, overlockers and proper fabric use, so I hope that is ok. Maybe I can learn from you! I was also planning to take some lessons once in Perth. But first I have to wait and see whether I can really make the move…. Good luck with the club and hopefully see you in a year or so!

Hi kaitui_kiwi. Thanks for your message. It is probably a bit naughty of me to use a kiwi icon as my name, as I am actually a German living in NZ (first came here 11 years ago). I am also posting over at BurdaFashion and it is nice to have a Kiwi name on the German site as German expat who lives in NZ. I guess on an international level something like “Bratwurst” or “Oktoberfest” would have been more appropriate… BTW, have you noticed, your BurdaStyle login and password should just work on the BurdaFashion site (unless the system has changed in the meantime).

I have added you to my friends list as well. Hope the Perth weather has settled!

http://www.burdafashion.com/de/index.html There is an english section as well http://www.burdafashion.com/en/index.html)

Hi, I thought I’d write something on your wall. I never noticed you left me a note on my wall on the old site, back in May! How do you enjoy your new overlocker? I like your icon and distinctly kiwi name too. I am not sure people outside NZ know about Buzzy Bees? Perth must be quite different from windy Wellington!
