    Hi Susanne….good luck with washing your dress! I think your best bet may be to take it to a dry cleaners? I’ve just finished a Vogue dress for my mum [it was meant to be mine, but I managed to cut it in the completely wrong size!] and I’m just working on a few summer bits…all of which should be on here within the next couple of weeks! I love your other pieces by the way.

    hi susanne! yeah, i just spent my last five years in ireland and i had the feeling that most people there are not creative at all – they just want to buy things but dont go through the ‘hassle’ to make them themselves. it was really hard to find a nice fabric in dublin. so here in the netherlands i am really happy with the choice and prices of fabrics. there is a weekly fabric market – called lapjesmarkt – on saturday mornings in utrecht – its on breedstraat. i dont like the shops very much – they dont have a good choice and are too expensive. i rather prefer the shops in amsterdam instead. but i know what u mean with copenhagen. there are fabric shops everywhere. and yeah, scandinavian design rocks! i remember that brand i really liked there – st martin’s.. xx

    Hi Susanne. I am in Perth but have just started sewing again recently and still discovering the fabric stores myself. At the moment my main shops I visit are: . Fabulous Fabrics 1/160 Balcatta Road, Balcatta . Fabric Gallery 5 Canham Way, Greenwood . Beautiful fabrics WA 4A Sunray Drive, Innaloo . Fabric and Embroidery Shop 14 Homebase, 55 Salvado Road, Subiaco . We also have Ikea which is great for fabrics for bags and housey kind of stuff like pillows & aprons etc. And of course we have Spotlight and Textile Traders which are great for cheap/discounted patterns. Textile Traders do a ‘buy 2 get an extra one free" so you can get 3 patterns for the price of two. If you do end up over here drop me another message and I’ll let you know what other wonderful shops I have discovered. Best of luck, Mel :)

    Thanks for the great comments! It’s kind of embarrassing how much I’ve been sewing lately, I think I’m just very anxiously awaiting the nicer spring weather! Beats twiddling my thumbs, I guess! Oh, and I love love love the dress you made with the Ikea fabric!

    Pleather… yeah – its funny – i think it’s a joke name for it in the fashion industry:) today i had a very productive day (for once!)… i made my sister a clutch out of some scrap fabric she spied in my stash (its a surprise for her when she’s finished her exams this week) and i finished off my Franzi waistcoat (about 6 months after cutting it out, then throwing it in my ‘half made’ pile) so i’m pretty happy with that:) i’ll hopefully get to post them this week so you can keep an eye out for them. how about you? anything on the cutting table? happy sewing, Lyndi**

    hi susanne (my name is susanna :))! thanks for your nice comment on my creations. im afraid my dutch is not yet that good for me to reply in it – im originally from austria and moved to utrecht a few month ago. i can see u are in copenhagen now – i love the fabric shops there!! actually the grey fabric with the green pattern from my tara dress is from copenhagen. i spent a fortune there in the fabric shops :D:D

    Hello, Susanne. Thanks for the nice compliment. My 40s dress – is a model from 09/2007 N117! So hope to see yours too!. I can cheer you up, it is not very complicated dress but the result is amazing! I’ve tried it twice and both satisfied! :) Take care and good luck!

    Hoi. Tot nu toe was het wel de moeite waard ( in Deventer of Enschede tenminste ). Je kan daar van alles kopen: stoffen, knopen, patronen, en verschillende accessoires. Ik volg het altijd via Er staan nog geen exacte datums in, je moet het gewoon in de gaten houden. Veel plezier.

    Thanks for the comment on my wall. You’re right, you can only learn if you experiment and that’s what I love about sewing. You have a pattern that you can tweak and change, but it takes time and a lot of tries to get it right. ;) I’m currently sewing a Tara that I lengthened into a dress. I’ll post the end results.

    I have a couple unfinished projects :) I need to hem and put the sleeves on a shirt a made for my husband, I’m deconstructing an 80’s prom dress and using the fabric to make a sleeveless Danielle, and I’m wanting to cut up a wrap skirt I bought when I went to Malaysia many years ago and make a Jane for sleeping/lounging. It’s black and has big flames along the bottom, so I want to make something that won’t be public :P

    hi! thank you for your comments. it was such a cheap fabric and patterns let you get away with mistakes… my sewing list is so long, i have an alden coat lined up but i usually have things that push their way into my list… good luck with your upcoming projects!

    That’s alright – it’s a really nice dress. I’m currently learning how to draft my own patterns, i got some books from the public library today. I have a big box of fabric i promised myself that i would use but dont know what to make with most of it (it was a gift). Are you working on anything new?
