Hey, I have some time to tell you stories now! not that I’m not prutsing right now :p but if I pruts, I should pruts well! :) Ooooh, second year studies! Do you have to read a lot of books? How many years do you still have to study? I wish you all the best :) And I never had clothes that I really didn’t dare to wear on the streets… And your clothes are all really nice! It’s sad if people look down on the well dressed… Maybe you should try it once to see how it goes, maybe you will have lots of old grandmas that will be your fan or something weird like that :D And otherwise, can’t you wear those clothes to parties maybe? Yeeeeeeees I went to NY!!! It was reeeeeeeaaaaaally cool! Such a big city, so many beautiful things and crazy buildings!!! We had a blast, saw a lot of museums, the liberty statue etc… I especially loved walking over the Brooklyn bridge at sunset! It was soooo beautiful :) And Greenwich was the cutest part of Manhattan :) I didn’t buy any fabrics but I did buy some patterns. I was looking for patterns of dresses with long sleeves, because I would like to have winter dresses! And then I could get one pattern more for free so I bought this silly pattern for dressing up costumes. Man I did so much shopping there! Usually I’m really not a shopper, at all! I bought two really nice second hand dresses at a charity shop, some old LP’s, cd’s, an embroidery book, sewing magazines, presents for my family and boyfriend… Crazy :) I also went to Columbia University for one morning, that was cool too! It was nice to see one of the universities I’m applying too, and the people were really nice and I got to ask a lot of questions… Yeeeees, I’m really excited about the applications! They are aaaalmost finished, deadlines are near… What I would be studying depends a bit on the university, some of them are programs focused on Eastern Europe, some on Europe, some on the European Union, another one is international relations, another one social sciences… But it comes to this: I want to know more about politics and economics of Eastern Europe and I especially want to work on transition is Southeast Europe. So whichever university I will go to, I want to focus on that in my papers and coursework! It is really exciting, but also a lot of work! All those papers to send and letters to write… I will also have an interview this month for a scholarship, I really hope I get it, because without the scholarship it is too expensive… Well, the USA would be too expensive, England would still be doable. If you get the chance, you should absolutely try to go and study in England, especially since you study English! I hope it will work out in the future, just start planning in time! Economics is quite hard to study yes. Not super super hard. But it takes more time. And I didn’t have time because of all the university applications! So I didn’t get around for my first exam :-( The problem was that there was too much to learn that was all connected, if you didn’t know one thing you couldn’t do the next one. And I didn’t have enough time to do everything so I could only do half of everything on the exam… So I decided to stop and go study for the next one! And the next one was yesterday and I think it went quite well :) Three to go now! I will do my best :) How many exams do you have? Will it turn out fine, you think, or are you feeling a bit nervous? I wish you all the best for your exams too, get the best marks ever! How is your sewing doing? I saw you made some cute little stuff the last months! I still have to upload my Christmas presents from Christmas 2008, haha! The only sewing I did lately was repairing some clothes and making bags to wrap my Christmas presents :):):):) And so, I will get back to work now, otherwise those good marks you wished me are nowhere to be seen!Have a nice weekend! :)

Thank you! I am glad you liked it! I always say that my favourite colours are soft pink and purple but in fact, I am addicted to this one! When I bought the bag I said well, I will have 2-3 things to wear it with. It turned out that I have a heap of clothes in turquoise – and it can be fitted with other colours too (it’s great with white btw). And I enjoyed making the flowers – I would have put a little bit more but I had run out of fabric :(

Skwarynia! I know you haven’t heard from me in a long time, but you know what it means? It means I have a lot of work and I’m not prutsing that much anymore! Yay! So actually I forgot to log into BurdaStyle for a while, but I see I have to come more often! Man you’ve been really productive! Thank you for your sweet updates and wishes! So funny you commented on prutsing on your pillowcase creation :D Made me smile :) I just scrolled through all of your creations, it’s hard to say which one is my favourite! Maybe the little blue dress? Though I like the neckline of your little black dress better. Anyway, it’s all gorgeous, you must have a great wardrobe by now! Do you wear everything too? Don’t leave it in your wardrobe! I hope you are ready for winter too :) I haven’t been sewing a lot lately, I’ve mended some clothes and I made my last Christmas present from last year, finally! An iPod cozy for my boyfriend’s brother, he was very happy :) Now that I’ve finished my studies, I started a one year masters in economics. So I don’t have time for prutsing a lot, but I also don’t have time for studying economics! I’m applying to universities in England, USA, Hungary for next year and that takes a lot of time! I have a GRE test this weekend. So I’m going to study again now! Please let me know how you are doing :) Big hug, happy sewing!

Hi! I’ve been looking though your projects, as your zipper belt caught my eye and has inspired me…
Anyway, I see you seem to do a lot of alterations to clothes you buy which are too large. Where do you start on something like that? I’m a bit of a beginner in sewing, but am very motivated!! Should I try it on and pin it into the shape I want? Or is it best to undo all of the seams first?
I’d be so grateful if you could give me a little advice!
Sep 23, 2009, 04.05 PMby skwarynia
Hi there, thanks for your nice message:) Yes, I bought a lot of clothes in thrift stores and second hands which are way too large and then altered them:) I always start with trying it on and narrowing [simply pinch and pin along both sides] Undoing seams if for me is a waste of time:) Then put it off, lay on the table and mark the lines. I always baste and try it on before sewing on a machine. Next you should work with the length:) Hope it help you:) Greets and happy sewing

I definitely will! I’ve since gotten sidetracked by sewing other things (you know how it is—so many neat things to make, so little time).
It looks like you’ve started a BurdaStyle zipper trend, by the way. Very cool.

Hi! Thank you so much for your kind comment on my cowl dress :-). I accidently posted it twice, so I’ll delete the first post now, your comment will disappear with it I’m afraid, but I read it and appreciated it! I look forward to your version, I really like your work (including your tea-tops :-)…!)! I’ll try to be more like you and rework clothes, it’s great…

I haven’t forgotten about you. We spent the last 2 weeks packing and now all of our stuff is 3 states away from us. It will take us a few weeks to move there ourselves and then we will have to start unpacking there. I’m sorry it’s taking so long. I know… summer will be over by the time I get it. I’m sorry for that.

One tip for the house! You need to use really stiff fabric lining- or the house is then too weak to hold itself up…. I also used thin quilt lining to give it some thickness.
Have fun!
