Hey! Sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment. You asked about the ruffles on my JJ. I followed the instructions for the pattern pretty closely. I cut the strips on the bias (as the pattern says), which makes the ruffles look more curvy. I gathered the strips with hand-sewing, because I find that faster than basting it on a machine and pulling the threads. And then pin it down with lots of pins to keep the gathering even while it’s being sewn down. It’s not too difficult :)

Hi there! You commented on my blue coat awhile ago, but I just saw the comment now. My coat took me 3 weeks. It was probably 10-15 hours of patternmaking and sample making, adjusting fit. Then it was probably around 20-25 hours of construction, so 48 hours for a jacket doesn’t seam out of the realm to me. I’ve only made one other thing of this variety before, which contributes to it taking that long, but the more you do it the faster you get. Good luck on your sewing!
