Cao Majo! Hvala na komentaru za TR suknju!
Dec 18, 2010, 01.19 PMby almatinka
By the way, thank you so much!!! I wasn’t feeling the Christmas spirit really (long story), but the Frosts are soooo cute they really brought it for me with almost a smack upside my head! :-) Do you mind if I make a family like that for myself? :-)
Dec 18, 2010, 03.12 PMby sewella
Oh Masha – I would be honored if you do!
I am so glad you like them – we are crazy about them too. The kids re-arrange their positions constantly and managed to smack Mrs. Frost’s hat so we had to model another one:)
This period was very exhausting for me and somehow didn’t let me plunge into the Christmas spirit, but I am slowly getting into it. Well, that’s life sometimes!
Dec 18, 2010, 09.41 PMby almatinka
Absolutely true about life!!! I just hope I have time and ability to get to a store (for the Styrofoam balls) and to make them by Christmas!!! :-) Maybe even make a “version” of each of my family members – as a present to each of them!!! :-)
Oh, and I am sure you’ll come up with something classy and awesome for Mrs. Frost!!! :-)

Jel planiras neki vez ?
P. S Pokusala sam da ti postavim link ali nece nesto. Ipak mozes da kopiras adresu mada sajt nije nista narocito.

Hi Sewella! Thanks again for your comment on my buckle-technique! What I want to say is: LOVE your stuff. I adore especially your clear sense of style! It is always fun to look at your creations whether you create something for yourself or for your daughter.

Hey haha that’s pretty funny he and I thought the same thing! But with the clothes you make no wonder she appears with such confidence. Just looking through your studio I am in awe you definitely have a talent for this. The clothes for her and yourself are stunning, keep up the good work I look forward to seeing more of your projects!!
May 10, 2010, 11.31 AMby sewella
Thank you again! I sure think this for you – you have some jewels in your studio too – like the Constructive and the late night sew dresses! Oh my! Just gorgeous!
May 9, 2010, 03.18 PMby almatinka
By the way… As for Eva being a bit uncomfortable with the blouse at first – sometimes it takes people awhile to get used to something that is not quite “ordinary” or “traditional” (I am definitely one of the examples of that!). Tell her that she is lucky that her Mom has such wonderfully creative hands (in Russian I would have said “golden”, sort of like in “worth their weight in gold, for they can make/do anything”) and an open mind! You should have seen the look on my Mom’s face when I decided to go to the high school Graduation (our version of the Prom) in a hot pink and black dress that looked… nowhere near a dress-gown – suffice it to say that later I got away with using it as a witch costume for Halloween!!! :-)
May 9, 2010, 05.45 PMby sewella
Yes, I know. She does that for almost every second thing I make her. I am glad to tell you that in my country we also use that proverb about a person having golden hands :)
I can only imagine your mom’s expression :)
But on the other hand you were quite economical, weren’t you? Re-purposing it for Halloween! I would have done the same! :)
May 9, 2010, 06.13 PMby almatinka
I was actually thinking that you might have the same expression – I often recognize even some words from Eastern European languages and the structure of the languages is quite similar as well. ;-)
And, yes, I am always economical – and often it drives my poor honey crazy! ;-)
I am sorry to hear that Eva is “giving you trouble” about things you make for her, but I am sure she understands that you and her might have different tastes, which causes that, and I hope that she still appreciates the effort and love you put into those creations!
May 9, 2010, 06.14 PMby almatinka
Oh, and I think Adriana was right – you amaze me as well and I still can’t understand how you find time for everything! I certainly don’t have that skill! ;-)
May 9, 2010, 06.31 PMby sewella
Ha, ha – I don’t sleep! No, I’m kidding! You know, when you want something from the depth of your heart then you find time to do that.
May 9, 2010, 06.34 PMby sewella
Re: the language – I know you do! Our languages are so similar. And here’s something I didn’t share. In elementary school I studied Russian for about 5-6 years and was quite good at it. But now – I can only get beaten if I attempt uttering a word :)
May 9, 2010, 07.10 PMby almatinka
Hmmm… You don’t sleep, huh? Well, then I guess you have about 25 hours in a day, because I don’t sleep too much either and still can’t find time. :-) But that’s partially due to my honey – we work different shifts, so every minute we can find to spend together is precious. Speaking of him – I did not know (obviously) that you studied Russian. But I am sure that even now you’d sound better than my husband, who when trying to pronounce Russian words and phrases sounds at times Caucasian (as in not just “white European”, which he is, but actually as if being from Caucasus) and other times Jewish. ;-) It’s so cute, that I can’t help laughing. :-)
I really do need to find time to sew, though. Hopefully, I’ll manage to find some time this week or the next. :-)
And I am sorry again for being so verbose – I am a chatter-box! :-)
May 10, 2010, 11.34 AMby sewella
I know exactly what you mean about your husband talking in Russian :) But you must give him credit for trying!
And do not worry about chatting to much! I really enjoy our little correspondence here!
May 10, 2010, 01.55 PMby almatinka
I do! I just wish he tried more (not in the sense of getting better at pronunciation, but in the sense of learning more words and phrases), but… Oh, well!
And I enjoy it too, Maya! Thank you!
May 2, 2010, 07.21 PMby almatinka
By the way, I also loved the little owl egg cozies on your blog (I thought at first they were made by you ;-))!!! They are sooo cute!!!! :-)
May 2, 2010, 08.24 PMby sewella
Thank you Masha! I’ve saved that scarf for quite a while now, it is so beautiful and I just couldn’t imagine just wearing it as a … well, …. scarf! I knew it was destined to have a more fulfilled life (and purpose) and I am not sorry at all for using it this way!
P.S. The cozies are divine. You should check momfetti’s shop for other cozies – you’ll be blown away! You have a link on my post.
May 2, 2010, 09.45 PMby almatinka
And the long wait certainly paid off!!!! It looks awesome!!!!
And I did look around Momfetti’s blog and noted a couple of things for myself. Thank you!

P.S. And, of course, you are welcome!

You are welcome. I like your creations and your blog too!!!
Apr 11, 2010, 12.03 PMby almatinka
And I loved your blog, as always! I laughed reading about Murphy (how does this person get to be acquainted with so many of us? ;-)), even though I am sorry it happened to you again, and I smiled reading about Easter and remembering Easter in my own motherland, and I do believe you forgot to post a project or two on here – the Queen and the Tiger looked wonderful!!!
Apr 11, 2010, 12.21 PMby sewella
Well, to be honest Masha there are lots of projects I didn’t upload here and some of them aren’t posted on my blog either. I am so glad you liked the costumes for my children! I think I could have done better only if I had more time on my hands. I hate when things turn that way when I have to work like crazy and everything feels topsy-turvy!
Apr 11, 2010, 12.32 PMby almatinka
I have some projects I didn’t post as well and I am sure everyone does, but I didn’t think there was anything wrong with those costumes – to me they looked very cute – and that’s why I was wondering why you didn’t post them here. I thought maybe it was just because you were busy – I know I have been lately, and so haven’t had time to sew anything worth posting. Either way, I am glad to have the opportunity to look at more things that you make than are posted here on BurdaStyle and I keep loving your works!!!
P.S. By the way, the picture of the Tiger, pleased with his tail, is soooo adorable!
Apr 11, 2010, 01.40 PMby sewella
There is no particular reason why I didn’t post them on BS! I just didn’t feel the need to post them there.
Thank you on behalf of the Tiger. :)
Apr 11, 2010, 02.29 PMby almatinka
Well, it is up to you, of course. I just wanted you to know that I found them very cute! :-) And the Tiger is welcome! :-)
Apr 11, 2010, 03.14 PMby sewella
Thank you Masha for the support! You always manage to brighten up my day!
Apr 11, 2010, 03.33 PMby almatinka
You are welcome and I’m glad I do! :-)
Mar 25, 2010, 04.16 PMby almatinka
Maya, I had to do it – much as I missed Burda and its new projects (while I was sick there appeared 20+ new projects’ pages!!! I have a LOT of catching up to do! Heh-heh! :-)), but I missed your blog more, so I sneaked a peek… And WOW! Do I love the black blouse and skirt combo in the post from Friday, February 12, 2010!!!!! Especially the skirt! I am looking forward to seeing it in your rendition!!! :-)
Mar 26, 2010, 09.24 AMby sewella
Thanks Masha – I have been under very stressful load of translation for the past two months so I don’t really have time to visit BS regularly. I don’t even have time to sew a straight line. However I plan to do a little sewing during the weekend since with Easter and April 1st approaching I have dresses and costumes to make!
Mar 26, 2010, 11.37 AMby almatinka
You are welcome and I’ll be looking forward to those!

Guess what, we went shopping today. About an hour after we got back my delivery of material came, a new chair for Dave my husband and a giant goodie bag of all different things that we bought while we were over in England. We have spent all afternoon setting the chair up, it is one of those massage ones and we are very pleased with it. So I have got to get down to it now and get cracking now I have got the material, I will just have to sort out what I think will be the right material for the patterns , so I will definitely be busy. Just looked out the window it has started snowing !!!!!!!!!
Mar 10, 2010, 12.54 PMby sewella
Sorry it took me so long to reply. I haven’t been here regularly due to the immense load of work for the time being.
I can only imagine the great time you had sorting through the goodie bag! I hope we get to see some of the lovely fabric you got from England!
Best,
Maya

Hi, back from our visit to England. Had a great time but the time went by so quickly. We went to Birmingham and after visiting family etc, went to buy fabrics in Birmingham centre.
Our son and his wife took us and it was like walking into Aladdins cave, we all had a great time in this fabric warehouse . Glad to say I have bought a lot of lovely fabrics and had great fun picking them all out.
The next day we took all the fabric and some other things to a courier that is gong to bring them over to Bulgaria.
My husband Dave has kindly bought me two work tables and I have all my sewing things ready awaiting the delivery of the fabrics.
All the best…….Elaine
