My head is swimming with projects. My stash rivals the nearby fabric store yet I am overwhelmed with doubt when it comes to choosing the “right” fabric. Mostly I play with organizing. Recently I completed a chair seat cushion. Piped and boxed. I recovered an old secretarial chair for my desk. (rather than throw it out). My greatest success is a throw cushion I made, 23 inches in diameter, 4 inches deep, piped and with a single buttoned centre. I used an assortment of fabric samples I had inhereted. They were too small for anything else but too beautiful to too out. I knew that it was going to be a success when my husband paraded around the house with it balanced on his head like some sort of foreign potentate. Last year I made a pair of pants for myself in a stretch denim for travel. They fit really well but after applying myself to strictly keep to the step by step instructions for inserting the fly zipper I found I had ended up with the flap on the wrong side. Its backwards! How did I do that? I have two duct tape doubles…a fatty and a fatter. I’ne made some drapes, curtains, throws and tableclothes in the past (the easiest fitting I’ve ever done) and am currently working on some simple linen drapes for my family room. This project has been in progress for several years so don’t get excited for me. I absolutely love the Burda site and I am in awe of the wonderful creations continuously on display. The fearless attitude of the novices and the generous sharing of knowledge is an inspiration. I’ve finally found the place I belong.

Hey robogramma. I think you and I should talk, we have the same attitude towards sewing. I’ve been sewing all my life and have a huge stash, but am terrified to cut into it. I’m in Maple Ridge, perhaps we could get together for a coffee and figure out how to help each other? I’ve got no sewing friends, so am looking for someone to encourage me to attempt some projects!
