Hey thanks for your comment on my V&A Dress. I have only been to the V&A museum once and I think that was when I was 13, but I wanna go back again. Been planning a visit to London for ages. Their website is nice too, lots of photographs from their fashion collection. Yes, and snacks in the pockets seems very reasonable…if the material only was sturdy enough to keep my snacks from falling through ;) …how sad!

Oh thanks for the comments- yes I guess I could just wear it like that and I prob will cos I won’t be able to take it apart as the curving happened when I was doing the narrow top stitch. Thankfully it looks in-line with the style. I do like working with jersey but sometime you can get unexpected results!happy sewing.bx

Thank you for the comment on my dress! When it came to the belt I didn’t really listen to the pattern about the weaving. I just pinned the five strips to one end of the belt and then weaved them how I liked pinning along the way.I then just tacked the strips in several places the help them stay.

Hey there, Thanks for your message on sewing with jersey… I’ve been working on a jersey cardigan and ended up turning the edges under and stitching it just like that around the neck and cuffs. I have yet to make anything in jersey with raw edges, but it’s good to know that it is done. Thanks for your help! Cheers.

Hey Renee! Thank you for the sweet comment you left on my necklace. Isn’t the button gorgeous – I have other ‘jewels’ like this one since I am crazy about buttons (I have buttons that my grandma used to do her clothes with) and I am enchanted with their texture, form, material, design. And at the moment am absolutely drawn into ‘fabric jewellery’. Wondering if this obssession is going to die away? Hope not!! :)

I am sorry for the late reply, have been on holiday for the last 4 weeks. I wanted to say thank you. Everyone that i have come across on this site is amazingly supportive, kind, helpful and most of all, inspiring. I liked how you noticed my Kasia making frenzy. I didn’t think many people would look particularly close at my creations. Just curious, but what do you study at college?

I checked out your yellow dress! You did an amazing job, its beautiful! It inspired me to try again, this time for myself, I’ll try two sizes down like you had recommended. Is it your experience that simplicity patterns are always a little off size?

Glad you liked my convertible wrap dress! You should definitely check out Weekend Designer, the instructions are pretty easy to follow and it’s so liberating to make your own patterns.

Hi ReneeBeth, thank you for your comment on my men’s pants! I like this jochen pattern, the cut is nice, and it’s quite easy to make! I love your 1974 Dress by the way :)

Yeah i made a pattern from a skirt that I already owned by laying it down on tissue paper and then poking a pin through it all to get the out lines of the individual pieces of fabric. I then connected the dots and voila! your own pattern. My grandma taught me to do it that way :)

thanks for the comment on my lumberjackie-o dress! i used a flannel for the dress, and found that it worked pretty well. i made a size bigger than usual and just took it in as i went along to account for the non-stretchiness. the collar is wide enough that you can get the dress on without using a zipper (which made this dress much easier) and as for the collar standing up, i just used a medium weight interfacing and it is folder over on itself which gives it a lot of structure. this dress is actually the tunic version of the patter with extra length on it. you should totally try out the patter—quick and easy!

I think that the iron-shaped marks on your garment were what they call “iron shine”… I’m not entirely sure. But I believe that’s exactly what happened to my skirt, too. Everywhere I ironed (on top of the zipper, seams…) it’s ‘shiney’ and I think I essentially MELTED the fabric. I read in a book (AFTER I completed my skirt, of course) to “press on the wrong side (of the fabric) to avoid iron shine”. Nobody else cared to mention this to me! But from now on, I will be more careful!! I wish someone would teach me how to ‘press’. I’ve realized I don’t know much about it!

hi there…
i believe that modifying the legth is sufficient… when you bring the material up, the larger diameter is higher and so you dont need to make it wider…
you have to play by ear, maybe pin it first, and then try and see how it falls on you, because the truth is that we are all different, so there is not (i dont think) such a thing as one way of doing things ;-)
hope this helps…
