Thank you for leaving a sweet comment! I’ve put up the flower tute already :-)

Thank you for your comment on my wall. You’re so sweet, and I’m glad to have given you some inspiration. :) You have some cute remakes of your own in your studio, and I hope to see more and more of your reconstructions on here. Btw, for some reason I never received a notification that you had written on my wall (I don’t check it unless it shows up in my activity feed), so I didn’t see it until today. I am sorry about that, you probably thought I was pretty rude not to respond. Thanks again for the lovely comment!

Thank you so much. I have many more remakes in the works. I’ve sworn off going to Goodwill till I get worked through some of the closet full thrifts I’ve already got. So much to do, I’m not sure where to begin. :) No worries about not getting back to me sooner. I’ve had things not show up on the feed too and of course people get busy and don’t get on for awhile. Have a great weekend and Happy Sewing!

Thanks. I’m glad you like my projects. I’m not really sure I have any secrets that would help but I’ll tell you how I go about things.
I get a lot of my ideas from looking at other members projects. I have a ton of projects saved in my favorite and when I start on something new I browse through for ideas. I’m a self taught sewer so I get an idea in my head for how I want particular piece to look when finished and just go for it and hope for the best. I don’t use patterns for much of my recycling but I find if you have a few basic ideas you can mix and match, especially with dresses. I use a lot of elastic and always have my seam ripper close because I usually screw something up a couple of times. ;) I hope this helps.

HAHA! Thanks. I still have a TON to learn. I can’t figure out how to do shirring, I’m not very good with gathers, darts are beyond me and I can’t make a triangle bust right the first time to save my life. I guess that’s what I get for not using patterns. My seam ripper is my BFF. LOL

I have lots to learn too and I have sewing for a while. I have gottan better with gathers. For me, the longer the stitch the better. Darts can be a pain. Start from the edge then g toward the point. Don NOT back stitch at the point. Just make you tail long enough to tie it off a couple of times. The point will be neater. My triangle busts are NOT the best either. They sit wonky and my girlies flatten more than they are! lol Patterns are my friends. I alter and try new things from them. As for seam rippers I have about 3 or 4 and they all have been very useful!

Thanks for the tips. I’m going to try the dart thing later today.

Hey Queenie, I just looked in my email to see if you had send anything else. (I don’t use that one often). So I decided to come here and I had one activity and it was you! I love your oven. That is so cute. So, how have you been doing? You haven’t moved have you?

Hey there! Thanks for you compliment on the stove. I’m still living in the same spot. I’m finally getting back into my sewing. I’m currently working on matching jumper jammies for my husband and my 3 yr old son. With the holidays and everything else that has happened, (long story) I really haven’t had much time to sew but I’m excited to get started again. Other than that I’m doing pretty good how about you? Any projects in the works for you?

I have been dabbing here and there. I am working the Fabric Stash contest over at www.sewing.patternreview.com right now. I haven’t been on this site in a while. I would drop by and see what’s being posted. That’s about it. I do have some things that I want to post up though. I’m back in the books again. I am supposed to grad in April or May. BA in Healthcare Management. So between kids (because I have to), school (because I want to) and sewing (because it keeps me sane), I’m busy for the most part. Take care and hopefully we can get together and do something. I want to work something big…maybe a prom, wedding or somethign type dress like that. ;~/

Hey! Great to meet you too. Good to know there are more locals on here. :) Where about do you live? I am just past Five Forks off Woodruff Rd.

I think I’m right down the road from you. I’m just off Woodruff Rd too. Who knows we may even be in the same subdivision. _ I see you’ve been sewing for quiet some time. I may have to pick your brain sometime.

Thank you so very much for the lovely compliment, I’m so glad to hear you like my creations! I’m sure you could wear them, and that’s the greatest thing about sewing, really: that you can MAKE things fit you, I love it… If you make a basic fitted pattern that fits you well, it’s not that hard to change it into different styles. That’s how I made the pattern for the tea-top, by combining my basic fitted pattern with princess-seams with Mary-y’s bust of the heat-dress. I made one muslin for the bottom part and one for the top and pinned them together, and also drew on them with a pen to know where to combine them and get my pattern. Then I transfered it all to (a copy of) my basic pattern (cut it off just beneath the bust) and made a pattern by slicing the top part and copying it onto paper. Hope it makes sense! It took a couple of fittings and a few adjustments, but I’m sure you’ll be able to make one that fits you in just a little while, you seem to be talented and very creative, I like your creations (esp. the top with a drapey neck!). Good luck learning (I’m learning too, all the time, it’s fun!)! /Karin

Hello Queenieslearnin2sew, Thanks for the lovely comment on my wall. Regarding your question: the patterns can be rescaled, but I am not an expert on the topic. The patterns I draft are all fitted to my measurements. I use basic slopers that fit me, which I alter in order to get the desired shape. I can point you to the m-sewing patterns: www.msewing.com They have a lot of downloadable patterns, which are free of charge, and most of them are provided in a range of sizes (from S to XL). I hope this helped. Best, Ana
