What did you make to wear to the Melbourne Cup Melanie??? I am sure you made something stunning!! I laughed when I read you are on a fabric diet. Good luck; it hasn’t worked once for me. I went up to Hong Kong last week and bought heaps of fabric. I really and truly tested the ability of a Qantas 747 (or whatever it was) to get off the ground with my fabric laden suitcases. I guess I am now suffering fabric gluttony.

hahahahah so pleased to hear your trip was a fabric glut. I’m a big believer that for destination fabric shopping, the fabric diet can be completely eased up on! My fabric diet is going well… so far! I’ve been good :)
Melbourne Cup Dress coming up really soon on here… but I did manage to blog it just the other day ;)

Hi Melanie, My beautiful Marfy pattern arrived today and I was wondering if you could tell me if the pattern includes seam allowance?? I bought the largest size 46, but I am not sure if I need to add more, other than seam allowance. I loved the way you finished your hem, so I am planning to do that for my top. Many thanks, Marjorie (aka Schnui)

      Hi Majorie!
How exciting! Which one did you get? No, none of the Marfy patterns include a seam allowance, so you’ll need to add one.
      Can’t wait to see!

Thanks Melanie. I bought the same pattern that you did for your beautiful green silk top. I may try a more complicated pattern later but without the instructions I would be reluctant. I would have to choose a pattern that I am sure I could figure out myself. Even after 40 years of sewing, I am still not 100% confident.
I too am glad to see the rating system go and agree it will partially stop people from being nasty.

Oh how exciting! I made the 46 as well. Feel free to email me (it’s listed on my blog) if you need any help. But otherwise – have fun!

Fitting pants is really really hard. Let me know if you discover the secret, cause I haven’t found it yet ;)
