a serger is an overlock machine. it uses four threads at a time and a litle knife to make theinside edges of garments perfect….or at least to wear they won’t fray. Thanks for the comment.

thank you for taking the time to comment on the a-line skirt. I’m glad you liked it!

i understand about Kasia :) It was a bit tough for me, and I took out all the hard stuff ;-) I think getting the waistband matched up was pretty tricky though, and having to sew the pocket curves the weird way. Despit all of that- yours really turned out great! keep it up- i can’t wait to see more :)

Hey Pink!Thank you on the beautiful comment you left on my choker! Sorry it got me so long to reply but I didn’t realize there was a comment on it! It is great to hear from you. And I see that you’re soon going to upgrade your skill level. They don’t say “Blood is not water” in vain! I believe that you have inherited your crafty genes from your grandparents (as I have from mine) and that we are yet to witness the results of your skills. Happy sewing!xx

Dec 16, 2008, 10.32 AMby bola
hehe you make me laugh!! i’m glad u like the jacket and sleeves! Some other people have asked for a how to so I quickly took pictures of the pattern I made yesterday, cos i’m not sure when i’ll make the black version – I think as long as people can see the pattern piece they should be able to make it. R U making christmas presents at all this year??bx

oh no dont give up on it!! maybe leave some time and go back to it. Yes I had the same experience with those piece!! and I had fabric that was VVVery hard to tell what was front from back so that didnt help. i think I ended up really marking everything well and pinning them together so I knew which pieces were which. Maybe try something in the meantime and then u will feel refreshed to go back to it soon!! I’m sure u can!! Actually I did the same thing this evening. – the Eva coat which has been on my stand for weeks cos I messed up the pockets- well i’ve nearly finished it!! after thinking for a long time and working on other things, I worked out how to cover the two gapping holes I had cut in the jacket!! neway spk soon!bx

HEY! yeah i’ll change it one day soon- I just feel I have sooo much to learn I actually dont think i’m intermediate but we’ll see. I’m working on different types of hemming and seam finishing at the moment and I also finished a boho type skirt yesterday but I’m considering making the bottom into a bubble shape if I can figure it out. Where are u at with the Kasia?? how r u finding it? I thought the instructions were quite good on this pattern but I had problems with the waist ( which I still haven’t fixed oh well – it’s hidden anyway) if u need any help on this I could try to help??- just let me know. I hope it goes well and your Marie too! It doesn’t take too long to do but make sure u leave enough space at the bottom hem so u can walk!! bxx

I’m so glad you like my coat, thanks :-)! I’m really impressed with your Franzi, it seems like you have talent (inherited maybe ;-)…). I found the most difficult part (the only one apart from the collar) was the lining. So I think you can do it too with just a little practise… (I would say I was a novice when I made mine, and I’m still a beginner at intermediate level… almost novice!).

Hi pinksunflower! Yes I so very much enjoy sewing now that my room is all put together! It’s great fun to spend time in there- now all I need is a little TV so that I can multitask :) It’s also (kind of surprisingly) a great motivator! I can’t bring myself to create if I don’t have a space for it, so as soon as I had the chance, we got my room together :) Good luck with yours! Post some pictures whenever you finish it! Oh yeah, and I saw this amazing sewing room on flickr- it’s a similar style to mine but so much BETTER! Maybe it will inspire you!

Hi, thanks for your comment on my green lydia top. It was really quick and fast (and thats saying something as I’m a total beginner, especially in knits) I’m sorry I can’t answer your other questions as I haven’t a clue about knit fabric either. Perhaps we should start a thread on the forum….

Hello Pinksunflower! lol I do do a lot of sewing!!. After work I get back ( make dinner) and sew! I don’t have a TV at home just the internet so there’s not a temptation to sit for too long watching stuff (which I would do). And I usually work on prjoect simultaneously, I always get ideas from the burda site and other sites and I just have to write them down, cos I want to try them all!!. I find it a really great release to sew after a day at work on the computer !! What skirt are you making how is the button hunt?!! bx

Hey pinksunflower! thanks for your comment on the Kasia skirt. Yes I had the same problem when makin up the waist band – there were just tooooo many pieces!!! and to make it worse the fabric I had was really difficult to tell frontside to backside so I just sewed it up and it looked okay. It was a hard skirt for me as I had never done pockets but it’s a great pattern and I’ve made a few variations from it since (to post soon) Looking forward to seeing yours – Kasia always comes out great, don’t worry!! bx

Thanx for commenting on my vest! I actually didn’t use any interfacing for my Franzi vest, and I can’t remember if the pattern calls for it or not…

Hi Pink sunflower, Thanks for commenting my blouse. The thing is that the blouse was made two years ago. I do sew a lot, but most of the stuff I posted here was made during the past few years. So, I’m not THAT prolific :) Keep well. Ana

Hi pinksunflower! Thanks for your nice comment! I considered making a How-To on my Lydia variation, but I guess it’ll take some time. The ruffling at the neck is just an elastic band which I sewed in. Hope you’re doing well :)

Hi pinksunflower! thanks for your nice comment on my jeans creation. I really encourage you to give it a try yourself!! I haven’t made them myself yet, but people on the site have had great success with the Anita jeans. Anyway, can’t wait to see more of your creations! :o)

Hello thanks for the comment! I have been sewing on and off for years but only made a couple of successful items (the rest weren’t good enough to be worn!). It’s only in the last few weeks because of finding this website and being inspired by what others have made, that i’ve started up again and it’s great! I made 3 items this week! I will post them hopefully tomorrow- would be great to see what u have made too!

Hi pinksunflower! Thanks for the comment. I didn’t have much trouble lining things up. I just tried to cut out my squares as straight as I could and sew the seams as consistently as possible. The outer edges were not initially even, some pieces where longer than others. I just trimmed everything up and it worked out great, I think I may have gotten lucky :). This was the biggest project I’ve ever tackled and am thrilled that the cover fit so nicely on our feather insert. Thanks again for stopping by. Looking forward to seeing what you make next!
