Glad to hear it! You’re welcome, honey

Hi Passiona,
Have you heard of www.craftgawker.com? You can try to get your pictures posted there. They need to be in very good quality photo-wise. Every picture is submitted with a link, for example, to the blog entry that discusses it. If they get accepted (I got one photo accepted so far) it brings you tons of blog traffic! And I mean tons! At least for the first couple of days. It’s a really cool site with great projects, worth checking out.

Thanks so much for your comment on my blog regarding the cover stitch machine! I wasn’t aware of how the chain stitch would be useful and I also hadn’t thought of looking up this machine on a review website, which is really helpful. I don’t think the machine you have is available in Israel but I’m glad to hear that the Janome got good reviews :)

Hey Sweetie Pie! Thanks so much for the gorgeous message on my wall. I have been under the radar a bit on BurdaStyle lately – mainly because I am talking to you now from the planet “Bride’s Maid”. Three dresses in three ways in a pesky but beautiful satin. That latest project of yours SO deserves to be popped up here – it is fantastic re-creation. And I know – I’ve done a “pick it apart and re-sew it back together in a new way” myself. Fab, fab job. And I was soo thrilled that you dyed it and gave the name of the dye you used – I was, earlier this very day – Googling dyes and only really getting Dylon. I’ve had a quick look at that IDye stuff you used and it looks fantastic – much more economical and can be used for a variety of fabrics. I’ve never heard of that one before so thanks so much for the “heads-up”! Your last message meant a lot to me, and really encouraged me to keep that personal, creative flame alive, somewhere amidst wedding sewing/slaving. Hope you and your “English Proff” are well! Lots of love Honey xxxx

Hi Passiona, I’ve tried to find a way to send you a message through BSC (as I belong to the Perth WA Group) but since the changeover to the ‘meet up’ system I’m rather confused, but anyway, I wonder if you could help me with some guidance. One of my daughters and I sew together and she’s flying over to Sydney in July during a uni break for an r & r break, and has been trying to compile a list of (a) worthy, affordable, fabric shops and (b) vintage/thrift shops to visit. It’s rather a stab in the dark with internet information, so I’m wondering if you would be able to advise at all. Thanks so much passiona. Kind Regards, Deb.

I am so impressed that you could pull off this latest delightful cardi in one night! Your chap looks very distinguished (he always does) and the colour is lovely. I choose to believe he is an English professor and writer, and that you are his loving, bookish, creative companion/muse. Let me know how close my fantasy is to your real life…… or maybe not….. ;)
(I think without my computer I have spent way too much time myself living in a fictional dream world of too many novels and listening to far too much Radio National …..)
I see you too are sewing for a client! This is exciting news – do tell! I myself have just finished a black satin cocktail frock for a friend – which involved discovering the interesting and very foreign world of FBA (full bust adjustments). I now consider myself blessed to be endowed with such small “gifts”!
Hope you are well Honey xxxx

I want to go with you to the craft show! Not sure if anything there would be 10% my cup of tea but I’d like to escape my kids and meet you.
is the 12th ok? Afternoon?
Mar 3, 2011, 05.03 AMby Passiona Cottee
Yes! Yes! I am also going to hand out some teasers for my blog (if I’ve got enough game!). Would u like to hand out fliers for your gadget, too?
Also, also… I was just snooping on the fiskars facebook page. I only just realised you need to ‘like’ it and then post a link to your burda technique on their wall to enter the comp properly. Did you post a link to your technique on the fiskars facebook page? I don’t want you to miss out!

Congrats to you for having finished your studies. Nine years is a long time and I really think it’s so cool, that you did it!!! :-)

Thanks, mitmit. It’s character-building!

A hearty CONGRATS to you Darl!!! Woo-diddley-hoo! You must be thrilled – nine years in the making – a worthy effort. Creative, talented and a lawyer! I’m impressed! Do you have a specialist area?
Dec 8, 2010, 10.35 PMby Passiona Cottee
Thanks, Nessy. The course covers every area of law. Specialist accreditation is something that comes later after I have practiced in an area of law for some time. My studies were motivated by international humanitarian law (I think the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the greatest document humanity has ever produced). And I found copyright law and intellectual property law et al a fascinating area to study.
I have been a while away from Burda and am happily catching up on the community :)
Dec 9, 2010, 07.32 AMby nessys
Both very worthy areas of law! Protection of human rights and creative pursuits – this is law at its best. I am very impressed Darl.
I have missed your cheery comments and sweet doll persona xxx

Hey my Space Girl Chick-a-dee! Logged in this morning to see your gorgeous Mork Dress receiving the full exposure it deserves as “Project of the Week”!!
Had to lol when I re-read your updated description. It pleases me to know the cows would have your full attention before galaxy adventures! Thanks for that Toms link – checking it out now. Those red wrap boots would rock my world!!!
I think Burda should run a contest to come up with the best “response from other girl upon seeing you wearing her dress”. My entry could include – “Wow – how much better does Passiona look? Simplicity made me stand on these damn stilts for NOTHING!”
I am so glad they made it project of the week – firstly because it is so deserved and secondly because without seeing it there and going in to take another look at the project I would have missed your lovely response with all this “Activity Disabled” biz. – hope they get it fixed STAT! xxxxx

Hey Sweets! Thanks for your lovely comment on my birdie skirt. It made my week!!
I too have fond memories of red tights as a wee young thing – and when I saw that Dr Who’s new assistant was wearing them I thought “wow – gotta get me some of those!”
I hoped you would like the applique – I know you’re a sucker for that Alabama stuff – you do it so well – so it is high praise indeed! xxxx

Jun 17, 2010, 05.30 PMby almatinka
Awesome! Congratulations both on the machine and the first order!!! Oh, and I am with NessyS – do we get to see it?
Jun 18, 2010, 06.45 AMby Passiona Cottee
Thank you, Masha.
I think it is important to get the client’s permission for a posting of what is their project.
Also, it would be best to have a pic of it on the recipient… and she hasn’t worn it yet! She will receive it tonight as a birthday surprise present from her husband. (She is lucky to have such a thoughtful husband!)
Personally, it was a little nerve wracking to make something for someone without a fitting nor measuring. What a test!
I do hope they agree to me having a photo of her in it. And I will be sure to share it, then.
Jun 18, 2010, 12.03 PMby almatinka
I see what you mean and I will be hoping, together with you, that everything is fine with the fit, as I am sure that’s the only hurdle – she’ll fall in love with the style and the workmanship, as we did in all your creations! ;-)
Jun 17, 2010, 01.57 AMby nessys
Oooooh!! Do we get to take a peak???
Good for you Honey! xxxx
Jun 18, 2010, 06.40 AMby Passiona Cottee
oh, hi Toots!
Thank you.
Would you believe I passed it on without taking a pic… ?!
Part of me thought: ’It’s not mine, it’s the clients’.
I will ask the client for a photo of it – a work colleague commissioned a skirt for his wife as a birthday present (surprise!). Tonight’s the night it gets unwrapped at the restaurant.
Gosh, I’m nervous.
What I can tell you is it’s a gorgeous tessuti fabric ;)
Jun 18, 2010, 07.13 AMby nessys
Gosh darn it!! I’ve “inappropriated” again!! So sorry Darl!!
I am sure she will be thrilled!! I hope we do get to see it – now you’ve teased us with the tessuti fabric!!!

Congrats on the new machine Honey! Did you do that embroidery above on it? Cute!!!
May 27, 2010, 10.27 AMby Passiona Cottee
Yes, you guessed it! It has an alphabet. Now I can make labels like “Italian Fabric”; “Machine washable”;“Merino Wool”; “Austalian Made”. It’s paid for itself already
:D
