Hello Nora, I hope you are well. I am glad you and Sew4my3 liked the archive idea! If there’s anything I can do to help ;) Afterall, until last year, I was a researcher at the Royal College of Art… better try to put those skills in operation and would be happy do it during my spare time? Once again just a thought… Have a great Xmas and all the best for the new year! Best wishes.

Hi Nora! I saw your post about sending a message to other members of our region so please do so for my favour. I live in Athens, Greece and I would very much like to meet people with the same interest (rare and difficult in Athens and very out of fashion hobby – only for old ladies- to sew or knit…) I am 28 years old…Thanks in advance!

Hi Nora, thank you for the comment on my son’s apron. I don’t sell them (at least for now), but it’s very easy to make. I think you can reduce the pattern of Layla apron and just change the way the straps attached to the body. Happy sewing!

Hi Nora, Listen you left me a great message when I first signed up on this site. I am just rounding the corner from some medical problems and a surgery and I just wanted to thank you for being such a positive person. I’m going to work on getting a bike…I think that would be so good for me. You are an inspiration!! I’m still trying to lose more weight. And since you asked about the secret I will tell you. I am a breast cancer survivor(since 1990), a diabetic, a thyroid condition, sleep apnea and arthritis. One day I was on the phone with my sister/mentor and we were discussing this and that about food and I just told her HEY, why don’t you just go get a degree in nutrition and we’ll just get all this figured out. And that’s just what she did. She spent 9mos in a course and became an NTP The biggest secret to losing weight is getting off of all pre-packaged food (boxed & canned) and refined sugar. A raw food diet 85% is best for the body and turning your health around. The other 15% is used for making wonderful soups from things like squash etc. during the winter months. You can also have meat of course but veggies are considered the healers of the body. I can literally FEEL the benefits when I eat a great salad. It starts with a good romaine lettuce because nutritionally speaking iceberg lettuce is next to worthless for the body. I am just starting to sew again. I’ve been away from the things that make me feel like I’m using the degree I obtain in sewing, designing etc. I need to obtain a web cam set up so I can upload images when I complete a project. And then we’ll have some great conversations. I have some quilts in the making right now and I did an evening gown from a Simplicity pattern about a year ago. It turned out really pretty. I had to add a creative touch to the gown to save it because I either missed something in the instructions or the pattern was flawed in some way. It looks great and I felt rather smart especially since I have a brain impairment from the breast cancer. I just have to be careful when it comes to the abstract or a, b, c type of mental processing of information. Sometimes I don’t remember things especially people names even though I just saw them minutes ago. All my friends are pretty forgiving…lol with me it’s a friendship requirement..hee,hee I’m going to close for now, haven’t been this chatty for sometime. Be seeing you in here again soon…Have a great day!! Joan

Hey Nora, thanks for the comment on my shirt!. I would like to reciprocate the compliment: The Nancy coat is super! It is great that you guys post more challenging pattern (drafting a size 46 back to 36 is quite a challenge in itself!) Keep well

Everything related to sewing involves hunching over for a 6’5’’ guy, like myself… I put away my ironing board so that I could give my back a rest.

Hi Nora,
Thanks for the great job you guys do at Burdastyle. I never felt much happier since I have joined the site, I feel attuned to my imagination and creative potentialities (even though I am a research art student, at this stage of studies it is difficult to be playfull, you have to justify everything, I only like to justify that I used the colour pink for my latest creation) Ok enough blabla,Just to tell you that I have been enjoying Jenny’s blog lately (soft circuits and ’Hanker’tude). I love to hear about such initiatives when sewing get mixed with art, video, science (maybe philosophy, politics?)I am more than delighted to read that you will focus on posting more articles, on any subjects that could quench our curiosity I hope!. And if you need a blogger reporting from London…well I live there! :) All the best to you Helene

I write on your wall a lot – I used a couple of filters on photoshop to alter the images from my regular-style Canon digital camera. The “shadow/highlight” feature in Image→Adjustments gives the pictures an old-timey feel and then I just adjust the greens and blues to make it look old as well. :)

All right Nora – Im 6’5’’ the Anita pattern is set at 5’6’’ – is this a lost cause? Caus I really want to make some skinny jeans….
Dec 6, 2007, 11.22 PMby jeffrey
I’ve been wanting to make my own pants and shirts for years – I’m 6’5’’ and like 165 lbs – so pants and dress shirts that fit me right don’t exist. I could go out and buy patterns and matterial – but I’m a poor college kid and the risk of failure (at sewing) has kept me from investing in either. Isn’t that sad – (part joking) Anyway – I’ve really improved in my sewing confidence since my last couple of projects – so I’m ready to make some clothes – Free patterns would really sweeten the deal – in the mean time I might try and make pants from the new skinny jean pattern.

Nora, I’m so excited that there will be men’s patterns – so excited. Do you work for Burda? or run this website? or something like that – I see you are a “teem member.” I’m kind of curious how this site works.
