Thank you on the beautiful comment! It really isn’t a big deal, I mean the making of it – but it turned out quite lovely!

Well, it’s hard for me to judge, not having tried it. But I do think reducing the bulk of the fabric on the top layer might help. Also I don’t know what the actual pattern has, but I was thinking the bulk (which I did see on other member’s versions and which did make me wonder about it looking good on me) might also be reduced by slimming the top portion of the bottom (I am editing, as I wrote “top” again the first time) layer. Or maybe even making it a tube dress completely separate from the top (with the yoke and straps attached to the top one, obviously).
Azalea (or a vintage dress that is very similar to it – with a different shape of the yoke instead and the bottom layer not protruding at the hem from under the top one) is one of the “runner-ups” for a dress I want to make out of that “snake-print” netting I used on my three-piece set (and the black knit used for the same outfit just might become the underlayer! :-)). I don’t know that it’s going to stay there, since the netting is quite stiff and that might be a problem with Azalea look, as it will add even more bulk, instead of reducing it.
I don’t know… We’ll see what happens… ;-)

Thanks to your spring update, I zagged to see the sweet fruit sundresses you commented on-thank you! I adore your sundresses, too! Having lived thru the 50’s & 60’s, we always wore them with sweaters-crocheted or knitted, between seasons…so still a favorite look to me, pairing them. Wishing you sunshine soon!

I have a question about your Maryy dress. Did you have to make any adjustments to the bust line? I am making this dress for a friend and she has a large bust. I will be making a muslin out of some cheap cotton before I cut into the fashion fabric. Any tips or hints you could offer me would be great. Thanks.

Great. Your friend is going to love it. I did add 1/4 inch at the top on the front bodice (pattern piece 1). I cut everything at a size 42 (my normal size) except that same pattern piece 1, I cut it size 44. That seem to work for me. I dont like zippers so I just took it out. Straps I sewed with less than a 5/8 seam allowance because I like the straps wider. You are smart to make a muslin dress first. Thats probably the only way to get the best fit. Look forward to see your finish dress.

The fabric is from www.fabric.com. It was on sale for like $2 something a yard and then I found a 30% coupon code online… awesome site…appears you may have enough fabric, but if you need more…lol. I just ordered 24 yards and spent $36 with free shipping. Who could go wrong? Love your hats by the way.

Thank you for add as friend. I am shy about asking first! Of course, you know I love your creations. And, the tool kit add brought my attention to another denim redoer’s style which is excellent. My First Aid Skirt was from jeans for fabric, but from scratch as far as seams, etc., so I really appreciated the attention you gave to her. You make a great Burda friend for us!
