Hope you are settling in OK ? You were the first person to offer me assistance and I have not forgotten your kind words of encouragement. also gratified that you admired the projects I uploaded. Having looked through the projects I am encouraged to do a bit more sewing — I have become lazy as clothes are so much cheaper where I live now than they were in Scotland ! I would like to make a winter coat and have fabric in the attic crying out to be used ! I have a wool/ camel mix that I got from Grandholm mill , Aberdeen ( they made Crombie cloth ) in 1970 !! Also a wool suiting in grey stripe ? ( i forget it’s been so long ) When I made the drape jacket for my husband I could not locate the canvases that I had been taught to use in the late 70’s and used non-woven interfacings instead but this did not " mould " itself for the collar and revers. Nor could I get those wonderful shoulder pads made with kapok ? Anyway it’s just a thought at the present. Take care.

Hello there nehmah,
I finally uploaded my idea for the scarf dress ( though when filling out the form had to omit that it was based on an idea by Burda, as this was the only way to get it accepted ! — but I mentioned this in the description ). Now I can upload others !!

Hi nehmah, yes I am very frustrated with the amount of issues on this new site and I wish they’d taken longer to sort them out especailly since I am now being much mroe active and hoping to share some patterns. I take heart in the fact that it’s been a good platform to launch my BSC Perth group and I’ve met a lot of girls in person with exceptional talents and it’s alot of fun and inspiration. I guess if it all goes to hell then I still have that to build on. We can still hope I guess. Mel xx

We are beginning to sound like two old sewing teachers from high school….. Press, Press, Press! Grade that Seam! Rip it out and DO IT AGAIN! But, honey, those aren’t draped folds; those are stress wrinkles. A size 4 at Saks is not a size 4 at KMart nor is it a size 4 for a sewing pattern. And my Favorite. Remember, measure twice, cut and sew once. Oh, well, hopefully they will just use virtual wood, eh?

At least you have a better side. I just use a namesake for a picture for mine. I much prefer to be behind the camera than in front. I don’t know what it is about the camera used for driver’s lisences, but those are only one stip above the mug shot cameras. Honestly, have you ever seen a great looking picture on a DL?

Hi, I “linked” your blog under the blouse. Hope you don’t mind. I am a fool for using a new skill. And if I don’t use the new skills, I quickly lose them. Cordially wishing you a safe trip. Nehmah

Thanks for the book name. I have found an online copy at archive.org and am working my way through it. Gotta love the way they spoke and wrote back then. Pompous starts to cover it and “full of it” (as my kid put it when I quoted a few sentences) seems to end it. I found a reference to a grading book on a fashion site (threadbanger or fashion incubator) but the link was bad and he didn’t leave a title for me to search. I really hate “HERE” links that are broken. The Simon book seems to be what I am looking for. Thanks again as my search for radial grading wasn’t coming up with much except for radial grading of joint reconstruction for orthopedic surgeons…(Like I really want to read about that. Saw a knee replacement surgery on Discovery Health channel once and said OMG.) Have a great day!

Glad to help out. I know exactly what you mean regarding televised surgery. I do not understand why it is so popular. Fascinating, that I understand, but popular? Nope. Your comment on the language reminded me of my son’s reply to a buddy. The fellow asked, “Does your mom always talk like that?” his reply, “yeah, it’s like living with a 1900s walking dictionary.” Not a nice child!
Sep 3, 2009, 06.41 PMby ralarkins
Nehmah, have you found or seen anything that explains the radial grading methods for patterns and explains the method for finding the locus (point) on the pattern piece? I can find lots of stuff on the axial grading method (or what I call the slice, dice and blend) but very little on radial grading. It appears to be what the Lutterloh system uses, but of course they don’t explain in detail how it works. They just want you to buy their systerm. :)

Thanks Nehmah!
No I haven’t heard from the Burda team yet, but it was weekend, so I guess they were not at work.
Thank you so much for your help, it is nice to see that someone is taking my problem serious. Yes it is very frustrating to not be able to communicate with anyone here, I even doubt that this message will reach you…
The only thing I can do now is wait and hope Burdastyle helps me out!
Thanks again!
Susanne

Hey Nehmah :) It seems I need to study the latter part of Genesis more. I had no idea what 969 referred to. I had to check, lol. Your quilt would seem really helpful, maybe I could use a similar method for CCD if I get to teach next year :)

Thank you so much for your warm words regarding my camisole-slip. Unfortunately, I can’t claim the lamp as mine, although as it turns out I do do sculptures of the human body and so it might have been, but in this case it is not. I’m told it is an artist in Ottawa that makes these – it is, indeed, very cool and elegant.

Thank you for your comments Nehma! You are very talented yourself! That quilt is a work of art! Keep posting those great pieces you make! We want to see them!!! God bless!!!

Hi nehmah! Your comment made me laugh a bit, thank you :-) (I needed a smile). Just wanted to let you know that I still haven’t included pictures in the instructions, but I’ll hurry to do it now that I’m on the front page to avoid more confusion (apparently there are quite a few who find the gathering-bit hard to figure out). I’ll let you know when I do! As for now, I’ve only added a pattern layout. /Karin

Maybe, just maybe, it’s a brand new alpha beta website they are working on….. Naw, you’re probably right sadly. Hope springs eternal (and all that rot.)

Yes,of course that I agree. That is the reason why I rather use Pattern maker because there are makros and I can put my or costumers measure and alter if necessary and print. My biggest dilemma is armpit issue if costumer have large biceps, etc. Usually it`s solved easily but sometime it`s time consuming. Thank you any way.

Hey Nehmah! Thanks for posting the photos and references. It’s pushing me to study Scripture a bit more ;) A new place? Sounds fun! Hope you are fine.

DD goes off to college next year. I suppose in the mean time I can get out my very cheap and inexpensive Brother serger but I am never satisfied with the results unless I am finishing edges or doing a rolled hem. I have yet to be impressed by a serger seam, it is never as tight/locked as a regular seam.

Move to where? Cyberspace? A new frame of mind?. PS. Still haven’t wrestled the machine back but at least she has moved it to where i can get to it. :)

RE: Moving. The “kid” to cyberspace, on a permanent base, AFTER giving back your goodies! We are moving to a 72 year-old high school. Brick and granite building; all narrow plank flooring, no rugs or carpets (no mold or mildew); walls in hard plaster with Kilz paint (to seal off mildew) three bedrooms, a galley kitchen; one full bath, one powder room/WC. It hasn’t been occupied for six years. The landlord is one of our congregation’s elders who just found out that another commercial tenant has used the apt. for free storage and done some minor damage. He is VERY happy to have warm bodies he can trust to keep up the place. We are very happy to get away from the neighbor who "blesses’ each and every male friend about twice a month. She goes through men faster than Fred through a quart of Butter Pecan Ice Cream. I will be off the Forum for a bit, until I get the list finished and hear from the moderators. I need about six of me to finish up all the hanging bits and pieces. (also very happy; son and wife are contributing to our upkeep. F. needs to up his insulin and at $88/a vial we were getting close to the bone). Life does truly have a way of improving, when you least expect it. Keep well, and stay in touch if you have time. Love to you and yours, Emily/Nehmah

Good morning Jude, Thanks so very much for the explanation and the link to the "http://www.w3schools.com/ (I hope) I now have a visual reference when the memory goes on leave. I’m pleased that you find the input useful and/or interesting. Cordially, Nehmah
Aug 21, 2009, 03.26 AMby Judeb
Hi Nemah, I too also had trouble adding a link, I had just got it when the new site came on line and we lost all the script. If you first type <a href=" then paste your link in immediately after the " with no spaces at the beginning or the end and follow it with "/a> that should link it. If you want different wording than the link showing, leave out the /a from the last piece of script and type your wording immediately after the last > (no spaces ) and then add at the very end . Hopefully this will help, if you get stuck let me know and I will try to work through it with you.
While I am here thankyou for all your wonderful input into this site, I always enjoy reading your posts. Jude
