Lost the back of the Bermudas? Don’t you think that might be a bit breezy to wear?
Jul 30, 2010, 01.50 AMby nehmah
Oh yes indeedy! Trouble is, they are for Fred. He was not a happy man when I “mentioned” this. The suggestion he wear them as a cross between a loincloth and a thong, was not well-received. They turned up an hour later, under stuff. (They must have snuck off when I was changing needles. ;-) Nehmah

Thanks for your message via Burda style. I am well and have bought a static caravan in the Yorkshire dales so spend lots of time there – walking, The rain has driven me home early — just as well as there’s lots to do here. A friend has given me a sewing machine for the van ! So I can take things out to do !! I plan to make winter curtains for extra warmth later in the season - cannot use the van from mid November to mid March, but it’s 800’ above sea level and rather exposed , so warm curtains are essential. Oh also I did start ice skating again – but have had 5 weeks off- must get back as I am to take part in a charity gala !! I have made a dress for the occasion ! Thanks again — regards Kath

Hi, nehmah! Thank you for your comments you left on the ‘Elegant Impressions’ projects! :) I am not sure but it seems your writing is often with a special sense of humour which I like a lot. Otherwise I am sometimes disapointed by my limited english because therefore I am not able to follow you in this way. Thank you again for explaining the vocabulary l didn’ t understand! :-) Cheers Immi.

OH my gosh I literally just read a post you left on my Shiraz dress in like june-sorry I totally missed that! I am so glad another close-to-Nashville person is on here sharing sewing wisdom and whatnot, and I am downtown sometimes, but these past few months have been devoted to sewing on the weekends…so my social life has dwindled! Hopefully soon I will be able to start wearing the things I am making out on the town, I really need to!

ah, nehmah! thanks for the comment on my dress. happier more to hear from you than about the actual dress, heheh.

Hi Nehmah! I went to visit your blog today and found out it didn’t exist anymore. How come? It was so interesting!
Dec 27, 2009, 07.32 AMby nehmah
Hello, thanks for the visit. I am having some difficulty with memory, just now. (It comes and goes, lack of memory that is) I found that the blogs were way behind and had very few visitors. I will try again after I get caught up on my work. Cordially, Emily

Things are okay with my “tribe” (haha, that’s cute). Not perfect, but nothing to be ungrateful for either :) I’m hoping your Christmas will be going well!
Dec 10, 2009, 03.04 AMby sabriner
Hi Emily, how are you? :) Haven’t spoken to you lately, so I thought I’d stop by and say hello. Hope you’re doing well.
Dec 10, 2009, 08.05 PMby nehmah
We finished 90% of the unpacking, but I still have a lot of patterns and fabric to re-sort. How goes it with you and your tribe? Cordially, Nehmah/Emily

Thanks for mentioning Hot Patterns. I’d never heard of that site before and they’re are some really nice designs on there. You say they’re good quality yes? And I take it they’re all downloadable for a fee?
Nov 28, 2009, 10.28 PMby nehmah
Some but not all are downloadable on the look for HP Just type “Hot Patterns” in the search box.
There are 4 or 5 free HP at fabric site which are free downloads. Two bags and three garments from Hot Patterns. It’s a good idea to sign up for the Fabric.com newsletter. They have great prices. Cordially, Nehmah

Hello there — haven’t seen anything posted by you lately — guess that you are busy settling in and hope that you are OK ? Hope to hear from you soon.
Oct 5, 2009, 07.37 PMby katensew
Hope you are settling in OK ? You were the first person to offer me assistance and I have not forgotten your kind words of encouragement. also gratified that you admired the projects I uploaded. Having looked through the projects I am encouraged to do a bit more sewing — I have become lazy as clothes are so much cheaper where I live now than they were in Scotland ! I would like to make a winter coat and have fabric in the attic crying out to be used ! I have a wool/ camel mix that I got from Grandholm mill , Aberdeen ( they made Crombie cloth ) in 1970 !! Also a wool suiting in grey stripe ? ( i forget it’s been so long ) When I made the drape jacket for my husband I could not locate the canvases that I had been taught to use in the late 70’s and used non-woven interfacings instead but this did not " mould " itself for the collar and revers. Nor could I get those wonderful shoulder pads made with kapok ? Anyway it’s just a thought at the present. Take care.

Hello there nehmah, I finally uploaded my idea for the scarf dress ( though when filling out the form had to omit that it was based on an idea by Burda, as this was the only way to get it accepted ! — but I mentioned this in the description ). Now I can upload others !!

Hi nehmah, yes I am very frustrated with the amount of issues on this new site and I wish they’d taken longer to sort them out especailly since I am now being much mroe active and hoping to share some patterns. I take heart in the fact that it’s been a good platform to launch my BSC Perth group and I’ve met a lot of girls in person with exceptional talents and it’s alot of fun and inspiration. I guess if it all goes to hell then I still have that to build on. We can still hope I guess. Mel xx

We are beginning to sound like two old sewing teachers from high school….. Press, Press, Press! Grade that Seam! Rip it out and DO IT AGAIN! But, honey, those aren’t draped folds; those are stress wrinkles. A size 4 at Saks is not a size 4 at KMart nor is it a size 4 for a sewing pattern. And my Favorite. Remember, measure twice, cut and sew once. Oh, well, hopefully they will just use virtual wood, eh?

At least you have a better side. I just use a namesake for a picture for mine. I much prefer to be behind the camera than in front. I don’t know what it is about the camera used for driver’s lisences, but those are only one stip above the mug shot cameras. Honestly, have you ever seen a great looking picture on a DL?

thanks for your comment on my little cheerleader’s dress… I guess you meant Virginia Tech when you said VT? That’s where I did my masters degree!

Thanks for the book name. I have found an online copy at archive.org and am working my way through it. Gotta love the way they spoke and wrote back then. Pompous starts to cover it and “full of it” (as my kid put it when I quoted a few sentences) seems to end it. I found a reference to a grading book on a fashion site (threadbanger or fashion incubator) but the link was bad and he didn’t leave a title for me to search. I really hate “HERE” links that are broken. The Simon book seems to be what I am looking for. Thanks again as my search for radial grading wasn’t coming up with much except for radial grading of joint reconstruction for orthopedic surgeons…(Like I really want to read about that. Saw a knee replacement surgery on Discovery Health channel once and said OMG.) Have a great day!
Sep 4, 2009, 03.38 PMby nehmah
Glad to help out. I know exactly what you mean regarding televised surgery. I do not understand why it is so popular. Fascinating, that I understand, but popular? Nope. Your comment on the language reminded me of my son’s reply to a buddy. The fellow asked, “Does your mom always talk like that?” his reply, “yeah, it’s like living with a 1900s walking dictionary.” Not a nice child!
Sep 3, 2009, 06.41 PMby ralarkins
Nehmah, have you found or seen anything that explains the radial grading methods for patterns and explains the method for finding the locus (point) on the pattern piece? I can find lots of stuff on the axial grading method (or what I call the slice, dice and blend) but very little on radial grading. It appears to be what the Lutterloh system uses, but of course they don’t explain in detail how it works. They just want you to buy their systerm. :)

Thanks Nehmah!
No I haven’t heard from the Burda team yet, but it was weekend, so I guess they were not at work. Thank you so much for your help, it is nice to see that someone is taking my problem serious. Yes it is very frustrating to not be able to communicate with anyone here, I even doubt that this message will reach you… The only thing I can do now is wait and hope Burdastyle helps me out!
Thanks again! Susanne

Hey Nehmah :) It seems I need to study the latter part of Genesis more. I had no idea what 969 referred to. I had to check, lol. Your quilt would seem really helpful, maybe I could use a similar method for CCD if I get to teach next year :)

Thank you so much for your warm words regarding my camisole-slip. Unfortunately, I can’t claim the lamp as mine, although as it turns out I do do sculptures of the human body and so it might have been, but in this case it is not. I’m told it is an artist in Ottawa that makes these – it is, indeed, very cool and elegant.

Thank you for your comments Nehma! You are very talented yourself! That quilt is a work of art! Keep posting those great pieces you make! We want to see them!!! God bless!!!

Hi nehmah! Your comment made me laugh a bit, thank you :-) (I needed a smile). Just wanted to let you know that I still haven’t included pictures in the instructions, but I’ll hurry to do it now that I’m on the front page to avoid more confusion (apparently there are quite a few who find the gathering-bit hard to figure out). I’ll let you know when I do! As for now, I’ve only added a pattern layout. /Karin
