Thank you for the lovely comment on my Nadja#2. (Please apologize for the delay.) I just searched for the Burda 7815 pattern. It is a lovely sommer dress… I am waiting for! :-)

Simplicity 3878 is a pretty simple pattern to work with. the skirt will have a lot of gathering in it (the over lay part especially) so be prepared for that. a ruffling foot might make it easier, but i’ve never worked with one so i dont know first hand. For the bodice overlay, make sure you cut the mid section piece (at the waist area) on the bias other wise it won’t stretch very well and be too small! other than that, i usually pleat the top overlays instead of gathering them for a couple reasons: i like pleats better, and it’s less time consuming than gathering those littler pieces.

    Good luck!

Thank you for the good advice. I don ‘t have a ruffling foot either-it’s on the wish list! I like the idea of pleating the top overlay, instead of gathering it. Will let you know how it turns out. Thanks again.
