Hey Mirela! I love your drape yellow top, my favourite colour and nice style too! I wanted to ask you what serger/overlocker you use and which brands or types of serger you would recommend buying? all your garments look great, very professional and I wanted to know what serger you use to create a fab finish.Thanks.bx

hey, I’m not sure if you’d check back my profile for the answer or not, so i’ll post it here as well: “I’m glad that you loved the white dress :) The fabric I used has NO stretch at all (it’s like charmeuse, just double faced, so it has some weight). I’m guessing stretch material might not work, because when i drape the dress, all those side drape is happening due to some tightness around hip. so the fabric above has nowhere else to go, but to turn into those drape. I imagine that stretch fabric would just lose the drape . (same reason why the right fit is crucial, if it’s too lose, the drape would just collapse and fall below hip.) Let me know if you have any further question :)”

hey Mirela! thank you for your nice word on my Marinero’s pants! i must agree with you, this is the first pair i ever made, and i love them that pattern is great! although, i think that burda’s sizing doesn’t match with it. i made 38, which is my size, but they came out a kind of too large..

Hi :)
I didn’t alter my Hikaru because I didn’t find out about the odd fit until I had it in a try-on-compatible state – already topstitched everything because you need to do this before sewing shoulder seams and peplums etc. I really never ever sew any muslins, I’m too lazy. I have quite standard proportions so that always worked out for me (except I always choose one size smaller than advised by Burda – and the fit is just how I like it). I always trusted larger pattern companies to not go SO terribly wrong :D
Next time I’ll just try to draw the waist area one size smaller, and have a thorough look around the bust area, to get some more shape in there. Just drawing a bigger size won’t fix the fitting issues, I’m afraid.
Best, Eva

Hi Mirela! I just saw your post on the new Alessandra business suit and I wanted to ask you, was Hikaru really in the magazine??? Do you remember which issue? I want to make one but I’ve been trying to decide whether to buy it because I never downloaded it while it was still free. I have a WoF subscription, so maybe I already have it! Also, thanks for your sweet comment on my Coffee Date Dress- if you make one, please post it- I’m sure your version will be absolutely beautiful :)

Dear Mirela, I am taken by your How-to for free-machine embroidery. I have some fair-sized scraps left over from yardage of alpaca used as hem and sleeve interfacing for wool and silk suits. I can’t bring myself to throw out this lovely fabric. At last I can use it up. Cordially, Nehmah

Hi Mirela! Thanks for your comment on my brooch. It is absolutely hand-felted only with soap and water. I added some more details of how I did it on the creation site. I want to order some wool material in the future to do more felting, maybe I could upload an How-To.

Thanks for comment on my brah. I have made a website (in Dutch) about making your own lingerie. It is not as hard as many people think. I did a few workshops and am now experimenting on my own.
