  Yes, the bust and facing pieces should line up after you gather it. They just look really different before you do that. Kind of like the way princess seams don’t look like they go together until you start pinning them…or maybe that’s just me :)

  oh looks like you already got help. thats what i wanted to say too, that you have to gather the front piece til it fits the back

  The sides of the front bust section are meant to be gathered, (where they meet under the arm). In doing this, it ends up being the same size (width) as the back pieces. Does this help?
