You were curious about what is called a continuous bias strip. I found the instructions in “the Vogue Sewing Book”.
FYI, the instructions for making the piping did not show strips that were aligned properly, and they didn’t appear to be cut on a 45 degree angle so they may not have been on the true bias. You really need to be sure you are using the true bias or the curves and corners can be very difficult.
