I was just going through all your newly uploaded projects and was going to comment on each page individually and thought Id save you the time of reading them and just post on your wall instead. I love your projects, especially the skirts. For such a simple pattern made of rectangles, you really jazzed them up with the bows or fabric choice. Great job. How did you calculate the amount of fabric needed for the front and back panels, based on your measurements? (I.e. did you multiply/ add a certain number?)

Oh thank you so much!! I’m just now looking through my little notecards on which I scribbled measurements and sketched little rectangles and I’m trying to decipher (with my calculator of course) what exactly I did to get these numbers.. Hm it seems that when I didn’t just use as much fabric as I had available, I multiplied my waist measurement by 2.5 and added seam allowances. Here is a great how-to that I followed the first few times: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/nayantara’s-quick-party-skirt. You can probably fool around with where you want the zipper (side or back-centered) or do elastic, etc. and that may change the number of panels/rectangles you cut. Can’t wait to see what you sew up!
