  hello Heidi, I’m really really, really sorry for not getting back to your sooner about the Liverpool sewing club – I was ill then forgot about the messages on the old Burda Style website! Doh!

  We’ve set up a sewing club now and the first meeting is actually tomorrow night (sorry, sorry, sorry about the late notice) – it’s at the Next to Nowhere Social enter top of Bold Street – 6pm to 9pm.

  Hi Heidi, Don’t know what happened, but there seem to be a lot of glitches still to be ironed out on the new site so I keep a copy of all my posts. Anyway I wrote:-I went to the library and went through their selection and to a few bookshops and had a close look at various books to find which I liked. I ended up with Make Your Own Dress Patterns by Adele P Margolis, it has been reprinted many times since the 50’s I believe with the latest in 2006, ( I am obviously not the only one to like it). This and Modern Pattern Design, by Harriet Pepin which is reproduced on http://www.vintagesewing.info/1940s/42-mpd/mpd-toc-long.html for free, this is another old book, but I find it full of useful relevant and timeless information. Happy book hunting I find both of these sources invaluable though I was taught pattern making some 25+ years ago, I didn’t practice so basically self taught again recently using these books.

    Thanks… i really appreciate your advice, there’s just so many to choose from the task seemed a little daunting at least now i can narrow my serach down a bit ;-D

    Good idea on saving your posts…think i’ll do this from now on until they sort out all these glitches
