Dear Laurwyn, I miss you! Your posts were something I always looked forward to and I loved how you championed the ability of plus-size sewists to be quirky, pretty and cute… :-) Hope you are well, wherever you are, and if you have been sewing secretly, I’d love to see more of your stuff. Love, Daisy

Hi Daisy, thanks for your sweet message!
I am still sewing, but I am not taking time to document projects and the results anymore (totally my fault here). I guess my new job + moving into our first house + the wedding coming did not help :)
However, miss blogging and posting my projects, and I am sure i’ll come back to it eventually

Hi! I was looking at dress patterns and I saw your “marilyn polka” version of a halter dress pattern I’m considering. I really want to use this amazing cotton fabric I found, but I wasn’t sure if it would work well. I saw your notes on how hard the slippery fabrics were to work with (i’m not used to working with those either) and was wondering if you thought a plain old cotton might work? Thanks for any info! C.Ritz

I’d say cotton would work well, but it would have to be a thin-ish cotton

Thank you so much for you nice words!
I completely understand your addiction! I decided to have a blog to communicate about sewing with other people, and maybe annoy my boyfriend a little bit less…
I fell in love with those patterns a while back and the jacket IS SO GORGEOUS! It is going to be challenge because it is more complicated then what I usually do… I plan on using something grey or black or brown… I am still thinking…
I might ask you advice later for the man suit I am going to start in a few weeks for my boyfriend… I feel it is going to be an adventure of its own!
Take care!
Lo

Hey Laurwyn, I just want you to know that I really enjoy looking at your projects. I think your photo shoots are great and love the spunky fun attitude you project. Keep it up! :)

Oh, thank you so much! I think that sewing is firstly something fun! I started it when I was insomniac, and it brought me peace, and fun and excitement.
I do the photoshoots with my boyfriend, for who photography is a HUGE hobby, so those moments are great!

Of via internet: Stoffenkraam.nl, destoffenstunter.nl of lapjesschuur.nl. Succes!

Dank je! Ik mag in Breda morgen gaan ;)

Thank you! I got most of my stash of fabrics from my grand ma’s attic a few weeks ago! They were bought in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s! A treasure! And I am really lucky that my boyfriend is photographer at night…

goddam it, I love you, there I said it, If I was a lesbian and lived in netherlandsland you would seriously have to get a restraining order out :-)

Oooops! It feels good to feel loved… If you knew how many people are that weird in here, you wouldn’t be afraid of restraining orders :p

Pfffff! I have worked on it a LOT of hours! I have just finished the lining and it’s now in the shell. I only have to do the seams at the bottom of the jacket, and at the sleeves… So, I guess it’ll be done tomorrow! Yeay!

I love your creations, really make me feel like adding some bright colours to my summer wardrobe! :D
May 26, 2010, 10.06 PMby laurwyn
Thank you! The only problem with colors in your wardrobe is that you need more shoes :) And those, I cannot do for cheap ;)
May 18, 2010, 12.09 AMby violetsky
Same here, I hate how the edges curl, makes it frustrating to hem. What are you trying to make out of your fabric from hell?
May 18, 2010, 06.46 AMby laurwyn
A dress… I got this cute fabric (you know, one of those where the pattern is different at the top and at the bottom). So after a while, i decided to use lining to make it easier, i’ll see tonight when I get to it…
