Hi there, Just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration! Now that the busyness of the holidays is over, I am starting my own petticoat. I am using all old t-shirts of my husband’s and since most of his Ts are dark, it will be black/navy. Thanks again for the inspiration (although I may be second guessing myself when it comes to making the ruffles and attaching them… all of them).

I can’t wait to see! I got a tip in my comments, which I am going to try when I make this from t-shirts, for ruffling. Linda said, “If you set your tension to 9 and your stitch length to its longest length and just sew, it will automatically ruffle.” I haven’t tried it out yet, but give it a test whirl, definitely.
I adore this design!

I tried the tip, and either I misinterpreted it or wouldn’t work with my machine, but well, it didn’t work for me. (I have a second hand Singer- about 40 years old). I did figure out that I don’t need to be sitting at my machine ruffling for hours though. I just ran a bunch of strips through and then when I had a few minutes after the kids were in bed last night, I pulled the threads while I was watching a movie. Not much of a hardship that way!

The petticoat is done! Or at least I finally got pictures done- it was done last month and I have already been wearing it around. Thanks again for the inspiration!
