Tea and sticky buns and hugs wafting through the ether to you…

I was walking along Cleveleys Prom ( after being ice skating ) carrying a heavy rucksack in the teeth of an Atlantic gale , when a gust caught me – I teetered / ran ? , tripped and went SPLAT with my left arm up over my head – this protected my face. 2 docs told me it wasn’t broken just deep soft tissue injury – put ice on keep it moving and take pain killers. the latter was a NO NO after 2 days due to tummy upsets . I persevered until I decided that I wasn,t getting enough movement. The tale unfolds……….

KNITTING! Yay! All that happens when I knit is that I tie my thumbs together!
Dec 6, 2011, 03.42 PMby katensew
This is a chore- as I knitted this jumper in exchange for an animal cage ( for a dog in a car ) The jumper turned out too large and the cage too small ! So I am reknitting the said jumper – but am left with a useless item in exchange ! Motto — check out barter items FIRST !!

Hi kate. Hope you’re well. I haven’t bought any burdas for ages. Unfortunately borders has closed down and finding out which WH Smith sells them seems like a mission, all the one’s at the big stations here have a really bad selection of magazines in my opinion. – Anyway, don’t need more stuff piling up…

Hi I was looking at the petticoats , and saw your avatar , know it sounds weird but I have a cat in same colouring.
Is that scenery near where you live? So tranquil
Cheers Carsmystical (Cindy)
Nov 24, 2010, 05.56 PMby katensew
The scenery is of the East Coast of Scotland just north of Aberdeen — where I used to live. Funny there is a cat in a village about 20 miles away that is identical too !! We chose her from a cat sanctuary after the death of our 19 year old cat !

It was great – I miss ice skating so much as I skated from the age of 8 to 58 ! Thinking of going back BUT a persistent hip problem is making me cautious — caused ( they think ) by an accident on the ice that I had at 15 ! The gluteous maximus is not functioning as it should ! May be it’s old age ?

Everything finally went very well – he had the rock n roll music he asked for and friends to talk plus I did a bit. Many many people turned up. Then after at the dance hall we had a tea , played Terry’s favourite music from the past and I had put up a " timeline " of his life. A good time actually – what he wanted.

It’s a pity that you don’t have a sewing class at high school — even as an extra-curricular activity. I gained most of my knowledge from a very strict but wonderful needlework teacher from the age of 12 to 16. Later I went to college to do Dress and design with home economics and went on to become a teacher myself. At lunchtimes I would take extra classes for those wishing to learn any needlework technique.
It is good to have a relaxing subject to fall back on.

Thank you for your comment on my waistcoat! I searched for ages for the frog fastenings (I found them on Ebay, so not my credit!).
The background in my picture is from the Lake District, view over Lake Windermere. I had a great time there one Easter, so it brings back good memories…

Hiya, thanks for your advice on tension, its the upper tension thats causing the problems, however it was still causing loops, and its now on 9, my higest number and the problem is still occuring. I have also made sure that it is all threaded up correctly, and I can feel the bobbin, is there any thing else you can suggest? Thanks for all your help so far!!
Nov 22, 2009, 07.29 PMby katensew
Try putting the thread through different discs ( sometimes there are 3 ?? ) Also does the thread feel tighter when the presser foot is lowered ( it should ) as the discs sort of close together when the presser foot is down . Thread machine to this point but do not thread the needle and lower the presser foot and gently pull the top thread and it should feel a bit tight.
It could be that the spring that controls this has broken ? And will necessitate a service – Sorry
