hey, I like your projects, especially the tunics and dresses. I recently got the stylish dress book to give it a try myself, but I found the patterns hopelessly oversized ( I am very tall and slender and the dress looked like a tent although I chose a small size and just altered the height). As you work with japanese patterns frequently, maybe you can give me a tip? Because I really like the style…but I wouldn’t want to waist all my muslin on it if I don’t have to ;-))

hi. i’m small/short, so i usually alter any pattern to make it fit, and i see a lot of oversized-looking styles in that book. some people like it, but if it’s too much, then maybe you can adjust the curve from under the arm – waist – bottom on both front and back? one inch make a big difference. but you’d better be careful not to do it too much if you’re not going to put a zipper on the back or side.
it also depends on the kind of fabric… muslin wouldn’t make it hard to work with since it’s a soft fabric, but different weight of fabric changes its feel and shape sometimes. i like making dress and tunic with knit jersey so it doesn’t “spread” in the bottom. anyways, i’m not sure if i could give you a tip, but hope it helps… good luck!
