Jenny Wren added the project Floatyfloaty Butterfly Dress
    Img_5019_listing

Butterfly-patterned dress with wraparound bodice and 3/4 circle skirt. Took an awful lot of planning, as I had to add lining without the shoulder ruffles. Also, voile is a pig to cut. Thank heaven …

Jenny Wren commented on the project Punk Tartan Dress

It’s a lovely thought, but I don’t have the time or resources to do a shoot of any kind. All the photos are taken by me, even the ones with me in them.

Jenny Wren added the project Forties' House Dress/ Tea Dress
    Forties_tea_dress_2_listing

I had a 1940s Blitz party, with plenty of notice to make a house dress like this. Made with the same fabric as the fifties’ summer dress.

Jenny Wren added the project Punk Tartan Dress
    Tartan_dress_listing

I have a lot of tartan. I can’t remember where it came from, but tartan is kinda difficult to do well. I think a full, Victorian-style French skirt would be awesome, but not very wearable. Maybe on…

Jenny Wren added the project Fifties' Summer Dress
    Fifties_summer_dress_listing

This pattern was made from a fairly new dress that I ruined in the wash, with Laura Ashley fabric I bought as two curtains for a fiver. Not a bad deal!

Jenny Wren added the project A Old-Time Steampunk Velvet Waistcoat
    Velvet_waistcoat_listing

Waistcoats are great for using scraps of lovely fabric, like I did with this yellow velvet. One of the best, and easiest, things I’ve ever made.

Jenny Wren added the project A Colourful Slashed T-Shirt
    Img_4292_listing

Starting life as a plain white fitted T-shirt from Tesco, this baby has really blossomed, after first a tie-dye treatment and then a decision to slash it.

Jenny Wren added the project A T-Shirt Dress For A Noble Creature
    Img_4287_listing

I knew from the beginning that I was going to recon the merch from our 2010 production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s ‘The Sorcerer’, but I didn’t know exactly what I was going to do. This was originally …

Jenny Wren added the project A Refashioned Golf GT T-Shirt
    Img_4275_listing

I love the way the folds of the fabric look like ribs, and the line down the back looks like the spine, and the way that organicity constrasts with the technical drawing of the Golf GT underneath it.

Jenny Wren commented on the project A Refashioned NYT T-Shirt

Well, the problem I have is that almost all of the t-shirts are totally inappropriate for the English climate. This one ended up as a patchwork blanket. Much more suited to our winters.

Jenny Wren added the project A Denim Skirt You Can Run For The Bus In
    Img_4281_listing

I don’t, by and large, like denim. I wear denim jeans occasionally. They’re fairly practical. But that’s it. However, after a recent windfall including many pairs of old jeans, I had to put them to…

Jenny Wren commented on the project A Bunny Pajama Poncho

Unfortunately difficult, as I modified a commercial pattern to make it. In brief, though, I took a pattern for a cape and cut some sleeve holes in it, set in some sleeves and sewed it up the front….

Jenny Wren commented on the project A Bunny Pajama Poncho

Doubled the interfacing and pulled the ears through the hood a bit so there were loops on either side of my head. This also gives the hood a nice shape.

Jenny Wren added the project A Bunny Pajama Poncho
    Img_4159_listing

Inspired by the kids’ pajamas in Pita-Ten, this would be a lot cuter on a little kid, but I made one for me, because it’s very warm and easy to sleep in. It’s just a cape with the front sewed up, s…

Jenny Wren added the project A Patchwork Draught Excluder
    Img_4148_listing

Our front door opens straight into my bedroom, and it’s pretty thin, so I made this patchwork draught excluder out of old T-shirts, fabric scraps and even an old beret!

Jenny Wren added the project A Very Long 'JEB' Scarf
    Img_4146_listing

I have a friend called Jeb who is known for his extremely long multi-coloured scarves. This isn’t quite as long, or indeed very multi-coloured at all, but still looks pretty awesome.
