Thanks for the nice comment on my dress! I’ll have to build up to doing linings – I sometimes do them, but if I think I can get away with skipping it and doing a slip, I usually will! I’m kind of a lazy sewer! :) It looks like you’ve got some great creations here! I love the rick rack on that strapless dress!

hi there, thanks for the comment on my dress, the shirring on the back was the modification, it was supposed to have a zipper but i am 4 months pregnant and wanted to leave room for growth :) it was a really easy pattern, quick and simple.

I’ve been sewing household stuff like blankets, quilts, pillows and curtains for years. Or little things like purses. My first project was actually a quilt. I think as long as you’re comfortable with a sewing machine you can go right into clothing, though!

I should have done it earlier. I’ve been reading about it for so long, and lurking on this site and craftster, but nothing compares to jumping right in and doing it! I learned a ton making the maryy dress. And the second one did go really quick. The first one probably took closer to 10 hours of work because I was worrying and fussing with it so much, but the second one took about 5 hours. :D

I’d really recommend the maryy pattern – I can help if you get stuck. The instructions can be a little confusing for a beginner at times but they’re pretty good overall!
