Happy New Year Jana!!!! i am looking forward to seeing more of your blog posts (and your sewing creations, needless to say)they have been thoroughly enjoyable so far! And yes, I hope you don’t turn into a Tichy nude model yourself (re- your chilly new year photoshoot) ehe :) XX
Jan 5, 2011, 09.30 AMby janul
Haha, thanks Helene! I´m certainly not going to model for him (just for my poor husband :). I really need to do some sewing, but I have to really force myself to do it, because I can sew only in the evenings, when everything is silent… and it feels so strange to take out the noisy machine :). But, I have some cool things in the works so… it will have to be soon. Happy new year to you as well! :)

Hi Janul!! You know the other day I was thinking about that pattern still as a dress. I am pleased you made it into one. Yeah, the pattern itself as a shirt was VERY baggy round the waist- taking it in however wouln’t be too hard. Have you a picture of it? The collar wasn’t too hard either. Well, I say that after I spent a while hunting on the internet all the how to’s I could!! The only thing I found hard was getting the the ends over lapping or not… Did you manage? Also the buttons were ment to be hidden behind a strip of fabric. I never figured it out and decided to leave it. My biggest problem was getting the pleats even.. tricky, very tricky but again not impossible. Just one of those things you wish you ahd a few more hands!!
Anyway, let me see how you did!! =)
Nov 28, 2010, 07.19 PMby janul
Thanks for your response, my project is already here: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/chambray-dress
I changed it quite a lot to my likings, as I had an idea previously, how the dress should look like. Oh, and I didn´t manage to make the pleats even at all… they are horrible (and I tried, ripped them and sewed again… but that didn´t help). Also, I sewed them in place by hand, so that they wouldn´t "stand out.

Dear J. Thanks for your kind compliments! You know what… i kind of regret I entered because once you do something happens: It easier to judge rather being judged! hhhiiii… not very comfortable situation. I hope you are well and that you are keeping up with your painting as well as sewing. XX

Hi, so nice to hear from you! Well, the competition is tough, so many great entries… I don´t regret I didn´t enter :) (oh, double negative…?). I think I understand, that when you put so much effort into something and then not win anything, it would be quite dicscouraging…
Considering my painting, I found out recently that I really like painting more than sewing… :) (or more than anything). I update my paintings and works gallery quite often, you can see it yourself when you click on the “my gallery” link on the right :).

Further to my comment on that too thin, scantily dressed girl on the bag photo shoot – I have just had a peek at some of your photos of yourself and I think you have a lovely figure. You are a woman, you look like a woman, you are a wife and Mother and you seem incredibly intelligent and creative.
xxxx

Thanks a lot for your comments! And yes, the model looks almost naked, you´re right :). I was wondering, is she wearing a mini dress… or just t-shirt and tights? Weird… thanks a lot for your kind words.

Well I am crazy about all the shades of pink and purple so when I saw this fabric I knew I have to had it (although it is plain). It feels great wearing it! Thank you on the lovely comment – as always!

Do you know I huffed and puffed with the collar- I tried once and had to take it apart then I looked on the internet at various helps and tips and got on with it. It worked! All I can say is it is just like the yoke on a skirt- sew the two sides together at the top, iron it flat.. then sew (let me think) the inside piece onto the shirt top and then sew the outside collar piece to the shirt and the other one. Does that help or is it horrible?? I am by no means an expert but it works- and do you know for some odd and screwy reason my collar was longer that the shirt- which is what messed it up the first time. I trimed it and it was fine…. The pleats are weird- when you have the shirt on they kind of pop out a little but I was thinking of just sewing them all the way down.
It is not so hard but you do need a little time and some fiddling about. It is also a loose shirt- you could make it more fitted…. the bib inset was a little tricky (wanting to use all hands and feet!!) but again its ok (close your eyes and sew realllly fast and its always ok!!) I think it would make a great dress since its loose enough anyway- a little belt with it would be fab.
So, let me know if you decide to takle it! Good luck!
Apr 7, 2010, 07.10 AMby janul
Thanks for your response! I really want to make a dress, as I don´t wear many blouses and I have a great fabric for a dress. I´ve made a stand collar once, it was difficult for me (and looked horrible) and I just want to make this one simple and easy… You´re right that it´s quite loose… I was thinking about a belt too, but I don´t really wear belts with dresses. I think I will make the dress from some not so nice, old fabric (that I won´t regret ruining) and than from my beautiful fabric :). We´ll see. Now I´m finishing a jacket, which is very time consuming…

very interesting style! Is it just me or do I see a little Matisse influence? Either way, good work!

Thank you! Well, I love Matisse, but I just paint the way I feel… and it changes with the time a lot :).

oh, i really like your profile picture. did you paint that?
do you have a website with your paintings? do you take orders or just paint from your own inspiration?
Jan 20, 2010, 02.20 PMby janul
Thanks, yes, I painted that :).
I have a website (it´s not only my website though, yet…), I tried to add the link to my profile, but I was unsuccessful..
paintings: http://www.erdinger.cz/01pet/galerie/jana/img/malba/index.html
Soon I´m going to add more paintings there.
title page: http://www.erdinger.cz/01pet/galerie/jana/index.htm (I also make dolls).
I paint mostly from my own inspiration, I´ve only made two paintings that were custom made, but I had a lot of freedom in making them (if that makes sense :).
