Hello:) I love all the dresses you make. I didn’t think I liked long sleeved dresses until I saw yours site. Very nice. needing to work on my sewing so I can have projects up soon, instead of just sketching and dreaming. Good luck on future projects!^ ^

Inspired by you, as I always am :), I’m about to sew something out of the Stylish dress book. I think I’ve got most of it figured out, except if there is seam allowance included in the pattern. So I thought maybe you could help me, since I know you’re experienced! Thank you for sharing your work, I follow your blog aswell and I always get truly impressed and inspired!

Hello! Thank you for your lovely comment!
I must just say that your yellow dress is beyond gorgeous :)
With the Stylish Dress Book, you do need to add seam allowance. They give the recommended number in the book for each pattern – it’s that little number next to each seam.
However, they are usually quite generous. Just add what you like.
Hope this helps! Happy sewing, I look forward to see what you make!

Thank you so much! I started cutting last night and looked at the pattern more closely and found the numbers. But it’s really good to know from someone who’s done it before!
And thank you for your comment about the dress! I will hopefully be posting some Stylish dress book projects soon!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE your stuff! I have a soft spot for anything vintage-like (though I’ve never tried to make any myself…) and I especially liked your lace collars. :)
Jan 29, 2011, 04.41 PMby iroiro
Thank you so much!
You should definitely try making something with a lace collar, I think it adds instant vintage style ;) And I just use the edge of an old doilie most the time, so you can see it is very easy.

Sophia dear, I just thought of something – are you on ravelry? If you are not, you should be. It’s knitting and crochet community similar to Burda, but specifically for yarn lovers. I know you fall into this category. http://www.ravelry.com.

Hello, May i ask where you got your glasses from? - They are adorable, as are your dresses!! :)
Oct 18, 2010, 09.45 AMby iroiro
Hello, thank you!
You mean my glasses in my profile pic? They are vintage ones I’m afraid (I seem to collect them), but the ones I showed on my blog once are from Jack Wills. They are the closest I could find to vintage style which I could get perscription lenses for.
:) x

I Iroiro! I was just wondering which volume was it? Of the “Pattern Magic” books. I’ve been eyeing that book for a while now, and now I have to get it. (because of that cute dress you made!) Thank you very much! Your projects are wonderful!

Ah, yes – the magical world of Youtube! Thanks for the help – now I have an idea of where to start. =]
Aug 23, 2010, 12.52 AMby junaluska
I just wanted to tell you that I love your projects!
Also…how did you learn to knit? I suddenly have a burning desire to learn how to knit [especially after seeing your knitted bows!!!], so I was wondering if you know of a book or something that would help. Thanks!
Aug 24, 2010, 09.10 AMby iroiro
Thank you very much! I really appreciate your comment.
Well, I was lucky – my Grandma taught me to knit when I was about four. However, I only taught myself to crochet this year, so I know where you’re coming from.
I’m not sure about any books, but I found videos on YouTube really helped! You can watch what the person is doing and knit along with them.
Hope this helped! Good luck :)

I’m thinking of getting the Stylish Dress Book, thanks to your creations from it! You bought it from Etsy? But is it in english? Or can you still follow the patterns? Thank you!
Jun 24, 2010, 07.31 PMby iroiro
Oh that’s great! I really recommend it. I bought mine from a seller ‘lilymeru’ on Etsy, who sells it very reasonably. The books are in Japanese, but there are clear diagrams and you don’t need to speak the lingo. I don’t read a word, so I’m a testimont to that.
I’d get the first book to begin with, as the later books are slightly more difficult.
Good luck! I look forward to see what you make!

Answering to your kind comment on my floral dress, the shoes are from my favourite ever shop – Irregular Choice. They are in Carnaby Street, London, but also have an online shop by the same name. The ones I’m wearing have birds and elephants on, and I also have another pair covered in roses. Love them!
