Inkstain1 commented on the article Sewing Lesson: Silver Shirtdress 124 11/2013
Agree with Graziella. I’m flipping all the time through the Burda manual, only available here in my third language, to try to understand the magazine’s instructions. Burda’s methods are often diffe…

Inkstain1 commented on the pattern Trench Coat 10/2015
Wny do you list this as from the February 2010 collection and then relabel it above as from the October 2015 issue? I’ve checked my latest issue and it certainly isn’t there.

Inkstain1 commented on the pattern Halter Jumpsuit 06/2015
They look fun, but is there perhaps a design flaw in not making a dart on each outside seam of the bra cups? I noticed this excess fabric on the original model photo and now that Meg had to make ’b…

Inkstain1 commented on the pattern Mint Trench Coat 09/2015
Classic, beautiful design, but not at all a trench.
This is a coachman’s coat, given the high, wide collar, but no gunflaps or epaulets, or sleeve flaps and the trim fitted waist silhouette.

Inkstain1 commented on the project Drop Waist Dress with Sash 04/2015 #104 - Ultimate Member Model Challenge
Very cute with a dash of pep from the animal print you chose. I wondered if this dress wasn’t going to be too twee when made up, but you’ve reassured me that it is very feminine and fun for a sunny…

Inkstain1 commented on the project Burda Kimono No. 124 July 2011 with three-part history/styling/construction "Kimono Primer"
How kind of you to say thanks, and when I look at your stunning kimono, I am staggered at the skill of your piping. You must have some trick to get it so perfect.
Inkstain1 commented on the pattern Flared Pants 08/2011
When these French Poodle Leg Pants first appeared in the original magazine, I did a post here:
Inkstain1 added the project Burda Kimono No. 124 July 2011 with three-part history/styling/construction "Kimono Primer"
This is a home-dyed velvet devore kimono with home-dyed China silk lining that I sewed using Burda’s authentic kimono pattern.
To read how I put it all together, referring along the way to an an…

Very hip and cool. I don’t suppose we’ll ever see ‘Handwork" on our stands in Switzerland, but now I’ll keep a lookout.
Inkstain1 commented on the project 'Ralph Lauren' White Jeans Skirt Burda 2-2014-109
Thanks so much. I’m trying to connect better with other sewists to raise my mojo out of a general empty-nest depression. A little summer sewing has helped and so do all kind comments.
Inkstain1 added the project 'Ralph Lauren' White Jeans Skirt Burda 2-2014-109
At the end of the day, (actually at the beginning of the day, but let’s not get technical) I spend a lot of my working time alone at my desk writing novels. There is no wardrobe regime for this but…

Thanks! It’s a beautiful pattern, with authentic details and was a pleasure to sew. So glad you’ve added it to the mix.

Inkstain1 added the project Grandpa shirt Burda April 2010
I have stitched up three fresh summer shirts so far this year. One of them was the Kenzo wiggly peplum number and another was a ‘Margaret Howell’ camp or ‘boyfriend’ shirt, already reviewed here.

I love mine so much, you’ve inspired me to try again with this pattern and this time, to use more than scraps. But I see you’ve skipped the dreaded tab problem that gave me such a headache!
