this is me (InaX5), if your looking at my page here and wondering about the things I make here’s your answer.

I am half Lakota & my husband is half Mohawk. We go to Native ceremonies, socials and powwows.

At powwows I dance and so do 4 of my children. My 5th child will start in the comming spring as he will be walking then. The different styles of dance have different styles of clothes. We call these clothes our regalia. I started making powwow regalia 11 years ago. Eventually I was sewing for my family and our community. This year I started my own internet business selling Regalia, ribbon clothes and Native baby items to help support our large family.

we also have clothes called ribbon clothes (ribbon shirts, dresses & skirts) that we wear at ceremony. Some wear these at powwows and social as well & some of us wear these with our everyday clothes also. ribbon clothes are a style that we created as a people in the early res period when we started using trade wool and calico.

Our styles are very similar to what they were but they have evolved as we are part of a living culture and there are always subtle new trends and styles.

    Hope this helps; InaX5
