Thanks so much for the congratulations and nice words! Haha, I remember (and noticed again) that you were jumping around in the spring sun in some of your pictures; we had the first day of spring today (at least the first sunny day since spring arrived) and I felt just that way, it’s amazing what a few rays of sun can do to people (and it’s all good!). Looking forward to your next project, I like your creations!

you know, i used to pre-wash everything, but now i only pre-wash if i think that shrinkage would drastically affect the finished garment (especially since this would mean a trip to the laundry mat whenever i want to start a project/add to the storage). my fabric store is awash in a sea of polyester, that 99% of the time doesn’t shrink, so i don’t bother pre-washing that. cottons i do most of the time, especially if the garment is meant to be really fitted. nothing worse than spending hours fitting something to have it shrink to be too small! you can shrink by hand washing (i use hot), wringing out, and ironing (while wet to dry it). it works great for cottons and silks (just dont wring the silk very hard). in all honestly i got lazy since i don’t have easy access to a washing machine. wow, this was really long, but i hope it helps!

edit: for the balling/piling on knits, i’m not sure. i’ve heard that washing fleece in low/no liquid fabric softener helps, but i’m not sure if it works that way for jersey. you can always get a sweater shaver!
