Ohh that’s not good timing for us :( the addy is 5b/31 Century Rd, Malaga, behind the new Bunnings, and it’s literally on the corner of Century Road, I had a bit of trouble locating it my first time, look out for a gold daewoo matiz and a silver subaru forester. We meet at 1pm, I’m glad you are coming and I look forward to meeting you :)

Oh yeah and I have a map that I post on the event page CLICK

Hi Cherie, I cut a 42 but then I took it in a bit, it’s probably closer to a 40 or maybe even 38 at the waist (I lost a wee bit of weight recently and it’s hard to let go of the saftey of cutting a size 42, it’s almost automatic, lol) so if you think you are a 40 then I would cut the 40 because I found it is quite a forgiving pattern to take in, good luck :)

Will do – I am hoping to attend a meet – just need to get everyone else’s agenda to match mine! I’ll have a look on Monday and then post as a suggestion. How much stuff does everyone bring – a brag item, a current project, machine… snacks? OMG its almost overwhelming!

Haha, some girls bring nothing, it varies each meet. Usually there are a few of the latest magazines, patterns or book purchases floating around. Last meeting I didn’t sew at all but I bought my machine, I just cut my pattern out of my fabric while chatting. It’s nice to see the new members show and tell to get an idea of your sewing style but just bring whatever you want, latest and/or current project or a new book you might want to show us. We have done a few sew-alongs but most of us are happy to just sew socially together :)

Sorry about my extreme slowness. I have traced off the pattern for you. I will write instructions! How detailed do you need them?

Not too detailed, brief steps will do – sew back to fron at side seams etc. Just note any trickie bits I should know about. I’ve been thinking about buttons – there are sooo many on that dress, but it will be worth it.

      PS thank you soo much!

hello GDAC, I was searching for some shorts patterns and I rumbled into yours perfect little black. And that name suits them very well :) Recently I bought this super stripy material, perfect for some low waist shorts! Which I have no idea how to make :) So I saw that you used McCall’s M5391, but here in Serbia (southeastern Europe, middle of nowhere) it’s not possible to order it. So I was hoping that you can help me somehow, if it’s not too much to ask. I would be very grateful if you send me some instructions, never worked with anything with legs before and I have no clue how to do it without pattern. I really hope I’m not too imposing! Vesna

If you like, I could trace it out in your size (I need to know what size) and then post it to you as I have no idea how to get it to you online. You should also look at Drive-In Saturday by missymellie – I hope to make these short soon, if I can get my hands on the pattern

Oh, thank you so much! That would be perfect, I’m really really grateful to you for doing this! My size is European 40, which would be the same as US size 10 I believe. Take your time, I’m not in any rush :) Thank you once again, you are so so kind!
p.s. I made mistake and instead to click on reply I clicked on mark as inappropriate, I didn’t mean to do that and now I don’t know how to undo it! ! Sorry :)

Hi Braden, Sorry, I meant to message you back, yes that website is fantastic, sewingpatterns.com, I bought a few patterns from there early this month, some were download and some are paper and should a arriving this week. If you sign up for their newsetter you get notified when they have sales on, they seem to rotate through the companies so I make a list of patterns I want and when that company come on sale (like last week was SImplicity for $2.99) I buy up :) I’m never paying full proce again. I got 4 patterns incluing postage for like $22 last week, that’s almost the cost of one pattern at Spotlight! It’s fantastic :) I got the Cinthia Rowley dress that isn’t on the Simplicity Australia site, love it!

Well I guess I won’t die without them but that’ll teach me for snooping on the American website ;) haha I might just be patient or yeah, order online, they’ll send you three patterns for just $12.00 postage, seems reasonable to me. Actually though there is a Simplicity pattern I want bad that they do not have on their international site so I might chat to you about helping me out with that at our next meet, hope you can make it :)

Yes,GDAC this skirt has zipper. To make skirt I simply cut two panels of cloth that when put together measured 2X the waist band measurement. (example 30" waist cut two panels 30" wide.) the length is 17" + 4" for hem. thus each panel is 30 wide by 21" long. Cut waist band waist measurment and add three inches. Add zip to one of the seams. gather skirt onto waistband and add belt loops , buttonhole and button or hook and eye m You are done. .

I’m NOR and as you can see by my projects, I mostly sew for the children (and the surrogate children/friends), but have a few projects that will be done xmas/new year just for me! I have never looked in op shops for material – you have to tell me where you stumbled across such great finds!
