gabcorb added the project Vena Cava dress on holidays
    Img_8205_listing

I made this “wearable muslin” dress using Vogue pattern #1228 by Vena Cava and a wild print fabric that reminded me of something from the 60s.

I love kimono sleeves and interesting pleats, and …

    Img_7659_listing

These are V1098 Anne Klein trousers made from a lightweight wool suiting fabric with a little stretch.

V1098 is a great basic trouser pattern – boot leg cut, and no pockets so quite an unfussy …

Thank you! My daughter didn’t think she liked the fabric, but once the trims were on she loved it – trims are apparently the way to a little girl’s heart!

Thanks Jane! I find pattern tracing pretty boring so am always glad to find a Burda pattern that can be transformed many ways… this one does seem to be a good all-rounder!

Aw thanks! It’s actually a very flattering style though – seems to create curves in the right places and mask the unwanted ones :-)

That’s a lovely pretty dress. I’ve been looking at detachable peplums too -there are a few interesting patterns from around the 1940s that feature them!

Oh I have this pattern – glad to hear the dress is straightforward to make, but it does end up looking very special nonetheless! Well done, it looks great on you.

That’s a very sweet top, and I think I particularly like it worn not tucked in – that way you notice the shirring and the shape.
Is that a knit fabric? I’ve never tried to do buttonholes in a knit!
