a friend of mine once made this video tutorial on how to make your own vest/pattern…check it out & get the gist of it, then you can be creative and add your own spin on everything!
here’s the link for the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7FZKOfTVmQ
enjoy & good luck!

It really is very good. I would love to know how to went about making your own pattern. Do you need something special? I am trying to make a waistcoat at the moment but fumbling with part of a top pattern that I am trying to lengthen! It leaves me inert because I am too scared to muck it up, although I shall make a prototype first ;) Any tips to get me going a bit quicker? Many thanks. I just saw your wrap dress again, by the way – looks very comfy. I shall have to make one for autumn :)

Thanks for commenting on my pink smock dress! I did just use elastic thread for the bobbin. It was easy. I commented with more detail on my dress page. Also, I like your Eight dollar top & skirt. Sorry you had trouble with the elastic part! I haven’t tried anything like that where an elastic band was sewn on. That does sound tricky (and hard on the machine). I recently made a skirt with an elastic waistband, but just inserted it through a casing which was nice and easy! Happy sewing :)

Hi Glad you liked my dress it was my first project. I used a New Look pattern 6727 to make it and made dress C. I added two extra darts in the body accidentally but it actually worked out better. Let me know if you give it a go :)

Thanks so much for commenting on my couch slipcover! The couch doesn’t have a winter jacket yet, but the women who bought it did ask if I could make one. I think I’ll need a break before I tackle that, though. :)

Thank you for your comments. now I am thinking of making a coat — got the pattern ( without envelope) for £1 and the fabric — GOSH there are two coat lengths in the attic circa 1970 !!!! All wrapped up in tissue and plastic all those years !! Will have to contemplate whether I really need another coat ??
