Hi fabricaddict – I was just looking at the cute flower dress you made for your daughter and notice that you’re from South Africa. I’m going back to Cape Town in a couple of weeks for work; could you recommend any fabric shops? (if you know Cape Town at all) Are there any nationwide stores that are worth tracking down? I’d like something uniquely S.A. if I’m going to fly it all the way back around the world! ;)

Hi There – when I was going to CT on holiday, I actually looked up some fabric stores on the net to see where I could go, I only ended up visiting one of them while we were there, and it did have nice fabric but nothing spectacular. I have no doubt there are other nice shops – the directory I found was here http://www.infohub.co.za/western-cape/cape-town/fabric-shops.htm If you were coming to Durban I would say you should get your hands on some cheap (R5 – R15!) Indian Saris and you can get some beautiful ones. Hope this helps, I’d love to know if you found anything after your trip! enjoy, that city is just amazing!!

Thank you on the lovely comment! Yes, I also thought that the lacy detail on the tablecloth is gorgeous and must be used, pity the thread it’s made of make it a bit sturdy.

Thank you for your lovely comment – and how cute is your daughter – she looks to be around the same age as mine : )
The cape is based on Burda 9674: http://www.burdafashion.com/en/Patterns/Kids_Collection/9674_Cape/1270778-1129000-1129009-1392520.html and I fiddled with it a bit to get it lined and ready for a British winter!
Am sure you’ll have fun making yours too : )

Thank you on the sweetest comment you left onmy cape. I had that idea with the flowers a long time – I wanted to make the flowers’ part a bit richer, but unfortunately I was left with no fabric at all. However, I plan to buy some more of the fabric and to make myself a nice winter dress!
