Hey emji thanks for the comments! i’m glad you like the stuff. I really like your tunic dress with the bright pockets but I wanted to ask what jersey you got from Tiaknight?, as I got the light weight black jersey to use for that cardigan I made and I wasn’t overly happy with it, Did you get the rib jersey? or viscose one?bx

Hey. Sorry, but I have no idea where the best place to get African wax print fabric on the net is. I am quite spoilt for it here in London, Ridley Road market sells loads and just up the street from there is a great shop called Afrique Fabrique, it’s amazing. However, I could probably spare about 2 metres of the stuff I used for the top you commented on, maybe we could do a swap if you have anything interesting lying around in your fabric stash? If so, message me!

Hello! Thanks for the lovely comment on my dress. Yes, this was a basic t-shape, I then sewed curves in to the waist and the tie at the back also draws it in. It’s also a fabric that doesn’t fray so I didn’t even hem it. Hope this helps! Lx

Hi emlj, thanks for your comments on my birdies, I can’t wait to see yours! Beware though they are addictive- I sat down to make a few for the mobile and before I knew it I had 14! My boyfriend and I fling them at eachother while we watch TV :o)

thanks :) i made it a few weeks ago and I think i ended up using about a yd and a half? i could be totally off though, i really dont remember =P i didnt use the pattern, I kind of just did it on my own and then I found that the extra piece hanging off the side was pretty heavy so I adapted it quite a bit and I like what came out of it :) i’ll post pictures soon!

thanx for the comment. I don’t really make my own patterns, well really it depends. I sometimes use a pattern for certain parts of the clothes then do the rest by myself. I would like to learn to make patterns coz I don’t know how and I can’t be as creative as I wud like because of it.

Thanks for the comment on my Lydia dress! It was VERY easy to make (I did it in one evening). The Lydia pattern is so nice and simple, I definitely recommend adapting it to your needs (all I did was made it longer, and brought the shoulder seams in a bit for my narrow shoulders). And the how-to on the cowl neck was really good. Love your style by the way, and the bird t-shirt is really cool!!

Helloooo. Thankfully I’ve found inspiration, but now I’m struggling to find time to make the thousands of items that I’ve come up with. Although I guess I have to start with a dress for my sister’s birthday and then a top with a ruffle on for myself. How are you doing?

Hey there! yeah there’s another good seller on ebay called ‘Sidtrim’ they seem to have great customer service too. They sent me the wrong size fabric and so they just replaced it with the right size and allowed me to keep the other piece even though I insisted I wanted them to see the mistake fabric piece, they have good. prompt email communication! are there any others that you use??bx

Ruffle suggestions…hmmm. Try it first on some cheap material to see how it falls. I made the final one after 3 tries, going tighter and tighter on the circle. I was starting to think that a pleated or gathered bottom would have been easier, but then, it just kinda worked out, and I’m really glad I did keep trying with my muslin (I would have shot myself in the foot trying to make that many pleats at the bottom). I used 2 circles with a 19cm (about 7.5") inner DIAMETER not radius. I also don’t think I left enough room to hem it the way I really wanted to as I only gave myself about 13 cm of material from inner edge to outer edge. so yes, definitely, take your time and use a cheap material to do a full test run of the ruffle to see how it hangs and if it’s the right length after you hem it. for my compass, I spread the material out on the kitchen table, and used the hole in the top of my yard stick as my center and just kept moving the stick a bit at a time, marking the inner and outer measurements on either side of the stick till I had a good enough circle. connected the dots (yeah! pre-school time!!!) and then cut it out. Hemming it is not much fun. I ironed it first, going around and getting the 1cm width that I wanted, but still was frustrating to get it all worked out since it is a rounded hem. Good luck with yours and I look forward to seeing your results!

Hi Emlj, Thanks for the comment on my floral blouse. I bought the fabric from a KnitWit store years ago and the colours just caught my eye. It is way too hot here at the moment to wear it as we are experiencing a heatwave!

Hello, thanks for the lovely comment about my zipper dress. As for your question, the t-shirt was separate and not sewn into the dress, that way I can wear it with anything. It was pretty simple to make, looking at your great creations I’m sure it would be super easy for you. Thanks again!

thanks for the lovely comment on my infinity dress! I adore your Kyla dress, it makes me want to get brave and try to make something from a pattern! But I think I might try something easier first, as this looks a bit difficult for me just yet haha
