Aloha! Thanks for the nice words on the qipao dress, and thanks for the compliments ;-). I wore the dress to a party and was quite noticed. It felt good! The insomnia paid off ;-)

I finished my little sequin top – there are little bits of sparkle showing up all over my house too now!! It wasn’t too bad to make – except that I broke 3 needles…oops. I just posted it if you’re interested :)

Hey Emlj I decided to send that fabric back and get the lighter blue version, hopefully that will be ok:) I think I know the fabric you’re talking about- hope you find something really nice to make out of it!! I was going to make a scarf but i’ll have to see now…Oh I wanted to ask whether you have the Anita pattern back from when it was free? If so would you be okay to send it to me pls!? I’m trying to get a good fitting legging pattern as the burdastyle leggings are ‘ok’ but the crotch just isn’t right and I don’t know how to sort it out. Thanks!! Bxxx

Hey Emlj thanks for the reply would you be able to send those instructions to bolacooper@aol.com pls? I haven’t made up a waist with elastic before so it would be good to see how Burdastyle instructs you to do so. Many thanks!!! bx

Hi Emlj, that’s great to hear, wonderful, I’m so glad I inspired you :) You’re going to love your new jacket! Ok, so I cut a size 42 which is my usual Burda size and the fit is very good. The only alterations I made to the sizing was to shape it a bit more at the waist, you need to do this before you top stitch the upper panels so I put all the upper panels together, then basted the shoulder and side seams to try it on, made the adjustments, undid my basting, then top stitched all the upper panels if that makes any sense. I also prefer my jackets a bit longer and being 169cm tall I need to usually add a 1cm or 2 into the length, so for this jacket I added 4 cm into the upper panels where the pattern was marked. I was a bit nervous about that at first but I am so glad I did it. If you want to see and un-lengthened version check out wzrdreams version, hers is great too, we sewed at almost the same time :) I do wish I had added maybe 1cm into the arms too, but it’s done now and I can live with it. Best of luck and please bug me again if you get stuck, I’ll try my best to help.

Hiiii! I was patiently waiting for Burda to send me my password but they never responded so I decided to start all over again! Anyway, I’ve missed out on all your projects too…I absolutely love the Angelina Jolie dress! I loved it when she wore it with the big, shiny aviator glasses. Your version is lovely – I’ve been inspired! Claire x

Hi Emlj – thanks for your lovely comment about my dress, and the shoes….my total favorites from TopShop and the most comfortable heels i have ever owned ;-)

makes perfect sense! not a huge fan of strapless bras as they don’t seem to do much in the way of support (TMI? haha) but i’ll see what i can do! i’m definitely going to try the anajan dress when i make it through my long queue of projects!!!
thanks for the info…i just love being able to see different versions of dresses on women with all different types of bodies. it is so much easier to imagine how it would look on myself…as opposed to judging from a sketch or how it drapes on a 6’ model vs. on my 5’2" body.
thanks again!
aisling.
ps- (love the blue tunic too!)

I’ve clearly not been paying attention as I’ve missed so many of your creations on here…I love the African print Marie! I bought a similar shape skirt from New Look a month or so ago and I wear it constantly…I think I’ll make my own now considering how yours turned out! Anyway, thanks for your comment on my dress – the fabric was only £3 out of the remnants box, and I got so much I was able to make my neice a dress and headband after finishing my dress.

Thanks for the comment about my shorts! They are very summery, which is a shame because it’s winter – I guess I’ll have to wait a few months to wear them :)

Yeah that’s ok, ok I haven’t tried the interlock yet but I will. That’s funny cos I used the lightweight jersey cotton And I didn’t really like it- to me it felt cheap, I did however like The jersey viscose, I don’t know if there are two types? Anyway it was a bit thin which was a shame but it has a Lovely drape. Actually I just finished a dress using it but The edges sadly have gone wavey?? I don’t know why, I didn’t pull the fabric when sewing?? Any ideas?? Bx

Thanks for your comment on my sheath dress too! This one was also pretty easy to put together, and I love the simple shape – great for work. Haha, yup, been sewing up a storm lately, but will have to go on hiatus for about 6 weeks, as I will be traveling for work….too bad I can’t pack my sewing machine!

Hi emlj! Definitely worth getting that Simplicity pattern for the trousers. They were so easy to make, and the fit is excellent! (esp if like me you are one size on the waist, but a larger size for the hip area!)

Hello there! Thanks for your comment!! it made me so happy to get positive feedback on “Eli Le rouge” :)
answer to your question: did you draft the pattern yourself or alter an existing one?
Yes, I drafted the pattern myself. It took me about a week to get it right because I kept finding little problems here and there. But it’s not that difficult to make.
