Your blog inspired me!!!! I love the “vintage beauty tutorials” , your explanations are very clear for people who don´t understand english very well. And your dresses are very very elegant. Thank you!!

Good morning, Casey, this is Jenny who’s been plaguing you with questions about the Ceylon dress. : ) I found this site yesterday & just love all the ideas. Once the kids have their breakfast this morning, we’ll be off to the second hand store for some ‘practice’ fabric. Have a great day! : )

Hello! I just saw you on here; but it’s interesting because I found your hair tutorials on YouTube months ago! I didn’t realize you were on this site, as well. Gorgeous dresses! I’ve made a few vintage and vintage-inspired things myself!
I really love your green dress!

I have a quesion…. How did women keep their legs warm in the winter when dresses were worn 99% of the time during the 30’s & 40’s??? I want to start dressing vintage more, but I don’t want to freeze to death! Thanks for any help you can give.
Jan 9, 2010, 09.04 PMby elegantmusings
Long-johns (I’ve see sort, knee length varieties in old catalogs), heavy stockings, knee socks, and boots were ways women kept warm during the 30s and 40s. I tend to layer up with stockings and socks when it gets bitterly cold, myself. You might find this thread on the Fedora Lounge board interesting: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=20228
Hope that helps a bit!
Cheers!

I have a question about your valentine dress, when you said, you measured in 2” from the center back edge, and slashed the pattern completely down the length, and spread 2”, I’m not quite sure what you meant by slash and spread. Please verify! I’m kind of new at this whole sewing thing.. :]

I’ve just been admiring your recent blog post… a lot of accomplishments last year. The Armistice blouse is magnificent. I’ve put it on my project list. The pedrell blouse and pink sundress are also marvelous. I hope you do have a sew along or tutorial for the sundress this summer. I am signed up as James W (Yahoo symbol -my husband’s e mail) on your blog and known as servareginae on burda and ravelry.
