May I ask you about a post of yours from April 1st 2014 please? You made the dress out of the same fabric as is on the cover of the pattern 6883 by McCall’s. You say in the comments to your post that you bought the fabric from Joann’s. Would you be able to help me by telling me what you searched for. I am looking high and low for the same fabric. If you could help me in any way, that would be fantastic. Thank you! With regards, Luca

I doubt Joann fabric still has this fabric. I bought it in store & I’m not sure what the name of the fabric is. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

Re mismatch on plaid dress (sorry, site crashes multiple times whenever I try to reply on a comment page): I once spent several months on a long crochet cardigan with a wavy stripe pattern. After I’d carefully measured up for and sewn on all the ten(!) buttons to match the buttonholes down the front, I noticed that the stripes didn’t actually match up any more when I did the cardigan up!

I’ve been meaning to adjust the positioning of those buttons for a year or two, but somehow I just don’t think it’s going to happen….

I can relate, it’s tough to go back and fix those errors… often I just want the instant gradification of just finishing a project ;-). If you look at the project (plaid & ruffles) in my studio you’ll see the plaid is matched perfectly. I did not try at all to match any of the plaid on that top, not sure how it turned out so perfect….go figure!

Oooooh, I LOVE your style! I “found” you because of the featured Cynthia Steffen dress and came to look at your other things – gorgeous, all of it! So I added you to my friends in order to see upcoming things… happy sewing (oh, I know the fabric/time dilemma…). Take care!

Thank you very much for the lovely comments. The Cynthia Steffe dress was a test of my patience ;-).
